The Barn Reviews

Graham
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Barn. The games room was a real bonus, especially as we had 5 grandchildren with us. All of the rooms were spotless and the kitchen had everything one could possibly need. It's important to be aware that this is truly a working dairy farm....and farmers have to make an early start to their working day. That being said, it didn't worry us at all. Thank you Michelle.
Pamela
We had a lovely time at the Barn. The property is well equipped and met all our needs. The games room was really useful as we had some rainy days whilst we were there. The location is great close to Matlock Baths and the transport museum at Crich which are both worth a visit. We had a meal in the Bear pub which had a varied menu and nice food.
Jessica
We recently stayed at The Barn to celebrate my mums 70th birthday, and it was absolutely perfect for our group of three generations ages 670! . The space worked brilliantly for us 6 adults and 4 children with even a bed to spare. We were welcomed with a delicious cake on arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch. The Barn itself was spotlessly clean and incredibly well equipped, especially the kitchen. Theres loads of space throughout, but we found ourselves naturally gathering around the large dining table for food, drinks, and quality family time. The kids had the best time too between the games room and the outdoor space perfect for cartwheels and running around, they were never bored. The master bedroom is huge and absolutely stunning, and there were enough bathrooms for the large group, which made a big difference! One of the highlights was the complimentary farm tour with Michelle. It was fantastic we saw newborn calves, pregnant cows, and even got to watch the milking process, which was fascinating for both adults and kids. Michelle was an amazing host she kindly let us check in slightly early so we could receive a Tesco delivery, and shes even posting back some treasures my 6yearold left behind! We would absolutely recommend staying here and are are hoping to visit again soon.

This property is amazing. We had an age range from 12 years to 80. Everyone had a great stay. It was lovely and warm and the log burner made it extra cosy. Fuel was supplied and all essentials tea, coffee, milk, etc even a cake! all there when we arrived. Very spacious too, never felt crowded. Comfy beds and spotlessly clean. Couldnt fault anything. Games room was well used too. A shame we never got time to do the farm tour but we did speak to the cows. Would 100 return.
Heather
A fabulous stay in this amazing property to celebrate my mums 80th birthday. The accommodation was clean, comfy, cosy and incredibly well equipped. It suited our family celebrations perfectly with plenty of space in the kitchen, around the table and in the lovely sitting room. The beds were comfy too. We were delighted with the home baked Victoria sponge that was left for us. I would highly recommend this property.

We stayed at the Barn for New Year and it was perfect for our get together, as a group of 10 made up of two families and a set of grandparents it had everything we needed. The property is clean and warm with a great downstairs space to all sit together, my grandchildren loved the farm tour and returned to tell everyone all about it. The area has lots of places to visit so great for trips out. It was my first trip to the Peak District and I will definitely return and the whole family agreed we would look to stay at The Barn again. Thanks to everyone we met around the farm, we were made to feel welcome and the cake on arrival was a big hit with everyone.
Debbie
House was lovely all decorated for Christmas which we loved complete with 80s style wall hanging. Kitchen was kitted out well could have added one or two little things like cooking oil but very good overall, milk tea and coffee were provided and a lovely fresh cake welcomed us. Being on a farm makes it a little noisy but adds to the experience
This was perfect for our 3 generations' family Christmas, with a warm welcome from our host Michelle who also gave us a very interesting farm tour. The barn had beautiful Christmas trimmings, is spacious, comfortably furnished and well equipped with everything needed to self cater for 11 guests. We loved the quiet countryside location and would definitely have no hesitation in recommending it!
Amazing accommodation suiting all ages. We were2 to 82 and the facilities were great for everyone
Madeline
A great place to stay on a working dairy farm the owners were lovely and even gave us a tour which was pre booked which was very interesting. Our 2nd visit here and would go again.
Lovely house with loads of space for a large group. Well equipped except it could do with more small vegetable knives and serving spoons and very comfortable. Slightly better lighting & signage would be helpful to help find the barn.
Sheila
The two downstairs bedrooms were really cold. I was extremely tempted to change the thermostat but didn't because of the note on it. Other than that, we found everything excellent, thank you.
A lovely barn we had a wonderful 2 nights there. Very clean and functional, well equipped kitchen. Beautiful setting, near local pubs and Wirksworth. Would definitely recommend.
This is a lovely property, great for family gatherings and celebrations. Its close to Wirksworth, Matlock Bath and other local attractions, and is set in stunning countryside. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing property! 9 of us stayed there, 3 generations to celebrate 2 x 80th birthdays. Lovely little touches like the biscuits etc waiting for us. Spotlessly clean, all in all a wonderful place to stay. Lots to do in the area too. We'd definitely recommend
We were made very welcome by then owners. The property was meticulously clean, well equipped and comfortable for a large family gathering. Highly recommended. Peter, South Africa
Great property for large family get togethers which ours was, ample space for parents, children and grandchildren 9 of us in total.
It was a comfortable stay. Enough room for all of us and my husband was impressed with how close all the attractions were to the property. It was useful to know the owners were close by in case they were needed. Just a short drive to Matlock, Matlock Bath, Crich, The Heights of Abraham to name but a few. We enjoyed the games room and being on a working farm.
We were delighted with the barn, the location, and the weather. The owners were quick to deal with a problem which arose because of a faulty firesmoke alarm.
The property was truly lovely and suited us very well indeed. We had a fantastic week and appreciated the milk and cake. We have given top marks for everything but marked maintenance down one. We just felt the games room was lacking in decent darts and there was no chalk for the pool cues and not really enough space to play. The garden too needed a tidy up. Hope these comments are helpful.
A beautiful Barn, well presented and superbly equipped, comfortable but still stylish with lovely touches.
