Heathylee Reviews

A spacious and extremely well furnished cottage. The kitchen was well finished with modern equipment and utensils. The dinning area is large and the lounge is very comfortable with TV access in both. There is a variety of bedrooms to suit all requirements with more TV access! The bathroom and the ensuites are modern and provide excellent facilities. Everything in this cottage is well maintained and if you do have an issue, the owners are just next door! Excellent value for money.

We loved the house but found the lounge and front driveway smaller than what the pictures showed. This did not take away the enjoyment of our holiday.
Caroline
We had such a lovely stay at Heathylee. From the moment we walked in, the first thing that stood out was how immaculately clean everything was. It honestly made such a difference, you could just relax straight away knowing everything had been so well cared for. The comfort was just as impressive. The beds were incredibly comfortable and we all slept so well, which doesnt always happen when youre away. The whole place just had that cosy, homely feel while still having all the mod cons youd want. Debbie and Rob, the hosts, were so helpful and welcoming, which really added to the whole experience and made everything feel easy and well organised. And then there are the views. The countryside surrounding Heathylee is absolutely beautiful, so peaceful and calming. It really helped us switch off and just enjoy being there. We came away feeling properly rested and would happily stay again. Its one of those places where you feel comfortable and at home from the moment you arrive.
Fabulous house. Great location
Katrin
What an amazing place! We loved staying there, plenty of space for 8 people from 3 generations coming together. We all agreed this may have been the nicest place any of us ever rented. It was super clean, so well equipped, and the owners were really helpful. They location was lovely. Amazing view too!
Michael
Wonderful home to stay in. Very comfortable. We enjoyed a lovely week with the family here. Plenty of room. It was lovely and cosy.
We had a lovely stay in Heathylee. We were a group of four couples and the layout ensured we all had enough privacy. The beds were super comfy and ensured everyone had a good nights sleep. The cottage has been beautifully renovated and has everything you need for your stay. The kitchen was very well equipped so perfect if you decided to stay in and cook. We ate at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese a couple of times which was reasonably priced and served good quality homemade food. The pub is a two minute walk from the property. There are numerous walks in the area and Chatsworth House was a 30 minute drive. We would definitely return to the property.
This is a lovely property, tastefully decorated however it is a cold house. Upon on arrival the heating was not on so the house did not feel welcoming . The heating timer was programmed to come on hours after our arrival. Everyday we had to contact the owner to put the heating back on as we were cold, having to sit with blankets on during the evenings. For a winter break this was a disappointing stay for us. If the heating issue can be sorted then this would be a lovely place stay.

Beautiful location Lovely accommodation Friendly host only next door Great pub a 5 minute walk away
The property was lovely, very clean and had everything you could want, spacious bedrooms and an excellently equipped kitchen. The log burner and electric charging point were an added bonus.
The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. The owner was very friendly and helped us out with a couple of minor issues we had. Would highly recommend and would stay again without hesitation.
Nicola
We absolutely loved our stay at Heathylee. The property was beautiful inside and out, well maintained, spotless and with a well provisioned kitchen for home cooking. The property itself was a great size for 8 of us. Rooms were generally spacious enough with lots of break out spaces to stop us feeling on top of one another. The beds and sofas were all very comfortable and the bathrooms and showers were more than sufficient for all of us with plenty of hot water. The owners were helpful and close by should we have had any problems but this was unnecessary. The village is a great location for exploring the Peak District and the local pub served very tasty food. Highly recommended.
Stephen
The house was in a lovely village and had everything anybody could want. The owners were very helpful, the house was spotless and the facilities were fantastic. As a family of three generations we would recommend this property to anyone requiring a tranquil holiday home. The bedrooms were spacious enough for a group of seven.
Rachel
We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful and spacious cottage. It was bright, airy and very clean with a very well stocked kitchen, plenty of storage space and everything we could have possibly needed. A perfect cottage
The best holiday home we have stayed in and we have stayed in many. Newly refurbished, extremely comfortable, well equipped spotlessly clean, easy parking, shop 5 minutes walk away beautiful countryside and a friendly hostess. What more can you ask for.
We had a great stay in this lovely and beautifully equipped house. We were surprised to find that it had very recently been extensively renovated and extended to now sleep 8, with new appliances, decor and furniture all of a very high standard. The kitchen is particularly wellequipped. The location is very quiet but just a short walk from the centre of the village, which is on popular walking routes. We had good meals at the pub and from the fish and chip shop, and the village shop was useful for supplies. The owners are just next door in case of need.
Sharon
Weve just had another fabulous stay at Heathylee, our 2nd this year!
Jonathan
A superb cottage that was ideal for our group for some walks around the local peaks area & visiting the likes of Buxton & Bakewell. The cottage was super clean & comfy. Would have no hesitation in booking again.
We had a lovely stay and the kitchen is well supplied with what you need to prepare meals in, and the pub the cheshire cheese is well placed for meals out. The location of the house is ideal for going to explore different areas without travelling for too long

We have enjoyed our stay at the property, the Land Lady was very helpful and recommend the cottage without hesitation.

We agree with other reviews that HeathyLee is a very clean well equipped property in a peaceful location. However, it should not be marketed as a 6 person accommodation as the dark 3rd bedroom to the side of the property is unsuitable for 2 adults with a very low beam over one of the beds. A 165cm 5' 5 adult found it hazardous and banged their head several times. The beam is lower than five feet off the ground over the bed. We feel it presents a Health&Safety issue. The other twin bed in the room has no issues with a beam therefore HeathyLee is better advertised as a 5 bed property. Another reviewer has commented on the challenging nature of the lane leading to the property and perhaps there should be an advisory that large cars, eg, SUV's, large hatchbacks might find it difficult parking, even off road in front of the property. We liked the village and its amenities and the accessibility to walks surrounding Longnor. We hope this review is taken in the spirit of helpful advice for marketing purposes.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Heathylee, it was a very comfortable property, particularly the beds. It was nice to know that the owners were on hand should you need them but we did not. We were easily able to explore around Longnor and the surrounding areas, and a bonus for dining was the newly opened Cheshire Cheese Pub, this alongside the Chip shop makes Longnor a lovely village to visit. Thank you. G& P N

We had a lovely visit again, now our third time at Heathylee. The property and the location are well suited to a family group and we hope to return again.

Great property, ideal location. The cottage is beautifully maintained and had everything we needed. Our first visit to the area and would definitely stay at Heathylee again. Thanks Debbie for the welcome milk etc, a lovely touch. Overall, a fantastic stay.
Sharon
This was our second stay at Heathylee and we had another fab week there, thanks again Debra for the welcome milk and biscuits along with tea and coffee. Its a great place to stay with lots of great walks from the cottage and the views from the bedrooms are amazing! Hopefully the pub will reopen soon as we missed it, the fish and chips are still great. Im sure this wont be our last stay at Heathylee
Kieran
We enjoyed a Christmas in Heathylee. Everything clean and comfortable. Would certainly go again.
Excellent cottage, well appointed, really enjoyable stay
Michael
Highly recommended. Cosy and warm with all creature comforts. Good location with shops including an excellent fish and chip shop. A shame that the local pub has closed but the pub in the next village was very welcoming with good food and drink.
We liked the property very much, it was ideally situated for the local attractions that we were hoping to see as first time visitors to the area, plus well stocked local village shops. Comfortable beds, good size dining room, easy to use tv remote, well appointed kitchen. The one issue we had was easily rectified by the owner who fixed promptly.
Lovely property, good location,. Facilities very good, just as described.
A wonderful property in a great location. We found the Longnor locals particularly friendly and enjoyed chats with them about the local area. Will definitely book again.
Perfect location. Property is a bit old but well maintained. I would love to rebook this cottage again in future.
The cottage was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. It was in a good location to explore the Peak District. The owners were lovely and very helpful thank you.

This is our second visit to Heathylee, which suits us perfectly in terms of location and layout. Lovely views and local walks, friendly hosts.
Excellent property in a great location for walking. Has a shop, cafe and pub within 2 mins or so walk as well. Will definitely be back.
We enjoyed the week and would come again. The house was great, my only suggestion would be to get the bathrooms warmer but we had decent enough weather so it wasnt a huge issue.
Graham
We really enjoyed our stay at Heathylee and would definitely return. Very quiet location with a decent pub for food and drink nearby, and although not on the doorstep of major attractions, Bakewell, Chatsworth, Buxton, Matlock and Alton Towers are all within easy reach. The cottage was very comfortable and we found it far more spacious than it appears from the photos which don't make it look small.
