Yew Tree Nook Reviews

Geraldine
Absolutely fantastic property could have done with a bit more cleaning Table ,mirror, kitchen cupboards sofas had seen better days but that would not put us of from returning we loved the place. The quests staying up stairs used our hot tub until I pointed them in the direction of theirs .But thankyou for a brilliant time.
Stephanie
The place is lovely and quirky, we had a great time and the location was great. The sofa bed wasn't too comfy and the other sofas have seen better days really. We were missing some duvet covers and had some issue on hot tub not heating one day instructions were not in the information pack. That was sorted so quickly that it didn't impact us much so thank you very much, it was much appreciated.

Myself, husband and 4 children ages 2, 6, 8 & 11 years stayed at yew tree nook for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it! The hot tub was used pretty much every day. The accommodation is unique and spacious and the kids loved staying somewhere so different. There was a highchair available and childrens cutlery and plates and cups etc and tons of different pots and trays for cooking. Everything you could need! Information booklet on how to use appliances and walks and local leaflets etc Whenever we contacted the owner about a query, they replied instantly and sent someone out when needed. Very friendly and polite It was a very comfy stay, nice fresh white bedding and towels. Kitchen, toilets, sinks all lovely and clean etc only thing that needed a bit of extra attention was the ensuite tilesfloor in the second bedroom but I mentioned this to owner so hopefully will be sorted. The slabs around the hot tub can get slippery when wet so just be wary. But apart from that, it was lovely! To spend 2 weeks somewhere and be comfy to do so, must show how nice and practical it is Also, the dairy farm next door.incredible. Watching the cows go out to the field each morning, what an experience. We were lucky enough to be offered a tour of the farm which was amazing. Also being so close to the Peak District and lots of attractions was great, what a beautiful place Really was a brilliant stay! Book it! You wont regret it
The water fromt he shower in the ensuite, kept running cold. it was not consistent hot water. also, the hot tub man came to clean the day morning off us leaving, maning that we could use it if we wanted to. it would be good if this could be done after the check out time. otherwise, a perfectly wonderful stay.
Rebecca
We had an absolutely amazing stay! Communication with the owner was brilliant. Directions and access information were accurate. Yew Tree Nook was exactly what we needed for our break from reality. Many yhanks
We loved the house and area. We appreciate that there were a lot of lovely things about this property and lots of pluses plenty of fresh towels and clean kitchen and floors etc. the bottle of wine and milk on arrival were lovely and we are thankful for this. But unfortunately we had various basic requirements that we should not have had to bring to the owners attention. 1the hot tub had a very bad smell and we brought it to the owners attention and it was fixed at the beginning of our stay but on the day before our departure, the hot tub was switched off and the cap removed by someone other than us and water released and the very bad smell was back. This was very disappointing. 2The light in the porch was fixed quickly as per our request as the porch has very old flagstones which are really uneven and in the dark it is pitch black and really unsafe. 3 The worst thing was as we were a party of 8, two of us slept on the sofa bed and when we opened it on Friday there was a clearly used dirty sheet on the mattress and we were not provided with a replacement. I contacted Skyes on the Friday and eventually on the Monday I had to contact the owner. When we got a sheet on TUESDAY it was not a bed sheet at all but a double duvet cover which did not even stretch the width of the mattress. There were other things that werent great but not deal breakers, including the well passed their prime sofas that had also been mentioned in previous reviews and in the comments on the reviews on this site it says by ownermanager that they had been replaced. Unless they have been replaced by equally bad sofas they are still the same they are stained, the structure of the arms in one had gone and the other the huge cushions kept sliding off. And for 8 people there were only 4 bowls. And we couldnt work out the heating. All in all, such a pleasant place was let down by very basic attention to detail. We enjoyed our holiday in the Peak District but wouldnt recommend this particular place unfortunately based on our collective experience.
Had a really lovely stay at the cottage , really nice place . The beds were a bit lumpy so maybe need new mattress or a topper. And also maybe a security light outside the front door because it was a bit difficult to see the steps in the dark. We all had a lovely stay though. Welcome pack was lovely. Tea,coffee, hot chocolate, milk and wine. We would definitely stay again
We lived staying at this cottage
Excellent accommodation. Idilic setting. Well stocked fishing pond. An awning over the hot tub for when it is raining would be great, this would have given our rating a 10. Thank you for the bottle of wine.
Rosalind
We had a wonderful time at the nook. The ownermaintenance company were so helpful when we were at the wrong place and also kept the house very clean. Everything was easily accessible. Oven took a while to figure out but may have just been us!
Mollie
Absolutely gorgeous property! The hot tub was great and the linens etc were all pristine and comfy. I will say that finding some of the light switches for the king bedroom was a challenge some we never found, and I think a sign is needed outside the property thats visible from the road, as I struggled to find it. Despite that, the place is stunning and hopefully we will book again!
Lovely luxury accommodation, they think of everything
Beautiful place beautiful scenery, its was so cosy we had our annual ... Beautiful place beautiful scenery, its was so cosy we had our annual Christmas get together and we woke up to snow on Sunday morning just breathtaking highly recommend
Victoria
Absolutely gorgeous little gem of a find! Loved the quirky decor and history of the place, as well as the modern upgrades and home comforts. The hot tub was perfect, and the communal area was great for dinners and gathering together. Parking is tight, but there are other spots opposite the church and further up the lane for additional cars.
Charlotte
The property was absolutely beautiful with a well maintained garden and lovely hot tub. Its very quirky and a pretty property which was also very clean! Our only slight complaint would be that the sofa bed is far below standard, it looks like it has previously been repaired but it just feels like youre sleeping on a bed of screws. The other rooms and beds were perfectly comfortable though. The rest of the cottage is well equipped and very pleasant. We would definitely return for a second visit!
Aishwarya
The property is very conveniently located to access various peak district hikes and amenities nearby but it is still very quiet nested among nature. The hot tub is amazing and is highly recommended after a long day of hiking.
Simran
Wonderful location with nice walks and not too far away from amenities. Hot tub is amazing, such a nice size, accommodated all of use. Quirky and very cosy accommodation with lots of space. Tv having all channels was a nice surprise, and rare. Would visit again. Great communication from the owner with queries too
Cosy, comfortable and peaceful, just what we needed afer a difficult year. Many thanks to Jennie and Lynne for sorting the problem with the electrics promptly and cheerfully, could not have asked for better service. Beds comfortable, showers great, hot ub wonderful, area beautiful with plenty to do. A really lovely relaxing fortnight.
Stephanie
Had a great stay. Lovely quirky properly with lots of amenities. Loved the location it was so peaceful but close to local attractions. We visited Alton towers and Buxton which were only 30 minutes drive away. We did have a small issue with our key breaking but the team sorted it out quickly and there was plenty of information provided to help make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Just wish we could of stayed for longer. Our families x2 2.4 children loved it! Especially the hot tub. Hopefully we will be back again soon.
Karolina
Very nice cottage, in a beatiful countryside. Well equipped and clean.
Charlie
Yew tree nook is a truly unique and quirky property. It is bursting with character due to the lovely vaulted ceilings. The property was clean, well designed and extremely comfortable. The hot tub was great. It is very close to shops in Ashbourne, and very well located to enjoy the best of the southern peak district. We loved our stay and we would definitely stay here again family with 3 young kids. There is also a large property to rent directly above, so there's space for large extended families, and we're hoping to rent both soon for precisely that. The only thing I'd mention is that the parking is tight it IS possible to fit two estate sized cars in the parking area, but you have to be inch perfect. Overall, 10 out of 10.
Michael
Fantastic stay over Christmas 2021. Property was clean and exactly as described and shown in pictures. Lovely open plan kitchen diner and lounge, perfect for socialising, and roomy enough for a 3 year old to play and run around. Vaulted ceiling bedrooms, gave a real cosy feel to the place. Hot tub was enjoyed many evenings and was very well lit. Large TV in the lounge which was great for 5 of us to watch Christmas films A very nice touch on arrival with a brightly lit Christmas tree in the lounge area made it very festive thank you. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
On arrival the cottage has mildew mould growing on settees soft furnishings , bedlinen extremely tired and musty. The carpets are so worn they have holes in them. The entire property is desperate need of a deep clean. Called cleaners on arrival who did respond and filled on our request the property with air fresheners . This only masked the smells . Thanks for so promptly. We have left the property early as it is causing both of us breathing difficulties. Definitely not caused by COVID ! We cannot recommend this property and feel that you should notify the property owner that soft furnishings need replacement as does the carpet. On the positive The hot tub outdoors was clean and the property does have effective heating ,
Thomas
A lovely cottage! ! The facilities are brilliant and exactly how explained. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would return for another stay. There is an Aldi about 10 minutes away and other shops too.
Really nice place to stay. Owner and cleaning team were very helpful.
We had a fantastic time! !!! Beautiful cottage, great garden and hot tub! Close to all south Peak attractions and amenities in Ashbourne. Would highly recommend!!!
Shame there wasn't an easier way of walking out from the cottage without negotiating the cattle grid eg little side gate especially for children. However, it was wellequipped we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you!
Hannah
We were blown away with the character of the property. It was stunning. We unfortunately had a little trouble with the hot tub on the Friday evening where we had to contact the owner. Although we were disappointed we could not use it that evening, someone was out for 8am the next day and got it fixed for us to use after our walk on Saturday afternoon which we were really happy with. Really quick service and very apologetic. The only feedback I would have is the lack of everyday essentials. Things like cling film, foil, salt and pepper etc that you dont really want to be buying just for a couple of nights. We did also run out of toilet paper as I think we only had one additional roll between two bathrooms. The recycling bin was also full to the brim when we arrived. So we unfortunately just had to stack our boxesglasses and cans next to it. However, these were just minor things that did not negatively impact our stay, just would have made things a little easier and convenient. On a whole we had an amazing time and the property was the perfect getaway. I would also like to let you know about the private chef we hired for the Saturday evening. This was David from The Dinner Party Company and he was amazing. The preevent communication, food, and service was amazing and such good value for money. A nice little addition to top off a really relaxing stay and happy to share his details if its something youd like to promote to guests. Thank you for a great service and stay! Kind regards Hannah and guests
