Querc Reviews

Overall a beautiful well equipped and comfortable property. As commented by many parking was an issue, and some drivers note too polite when been asked to move. Few small maintenance jobs required eg Some lights not working, loose taps. I was going to hoover but machine totally full and clogged and in need of good clean out I didn't bother. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!!
The road noise did not bother us, though the creaky floor boards were quite impressive from below. It might be an idea to mention at the beginning, rather than in the subsequent info that there is a fourth parking space near the house. We did not actually have problems with the fish shop illegal parking, but the extra space was actually useful. The house is very well presented and impressively furnished.
Had a great stay, everything we wanted. Comfy beds and well stocked kitchen. Central to all the main areas of the Peaks. Could do with more sofachair seating in living area for 8 adults, veg peeler assume missing as could not find one and right wall light in living area flickers occasionally.
We just spent 3 days at Querk , 3 families. The cottage is spacious and well equipped. Unfortunately it is right on the main road and the noise level is extremely high, the lorries trundle through all night, and cars also speed through all night, so very little sleep! Shame these huge lorries have to go through this lovely village. The other issue is the parking, there are 3 allocated parking spaces, just opposite the fish & chip shop, so customers from there park their cars there! This could easily be sorted, one would have thought. There was also a problem with the family bathroom, that appeared to have some kind of leak, leaving to floor very wet. The location of the cottage was good and surrounding areas beautiful. Perhaps the owner could look into installing double glazing to help with the noise and sort out the parking arrangements.
Rachel
Beautiful accommodation. Owners very responsive to any questions we had and were extremely friendly and helpful. This was our second stay in this lovely house and wouldnt hesitate staying again if we wanted to be in that area. This stay was is November and the weather was not the best as you would expect but we stayed in May and did some amazing walks from the house
Esther
Great cottage and very comfortable. Photos did not do it justice, it was much nicer even that we had imagined. Location is absolutely excellent for exploring a large area of the Peak District with many many brilliant places within a half hour drive. Lots of lovely walking from the front door too. We'd seen other reviews complaining about the cottage being on a main road. We stayed during a working week and really didn't find it an issue. The only negative we'd find is that parking in the allocated spaces can be a bit of an issue we did have to ask people in the chip shop to move a couple of times as there is no alternative place to park. Perhaps something for the owners to take up with the chip shop directly. Otherwise no complaints and would definitely stay again.
Fantastic property and the attention to detail was first class. A great open living area to socialise with well appointed bedrooms and bathrooms. The location in the village is great to access the local area but the property is on the main road. This was no problem at all for us but if you opened a window it was very noisy!
A lovely well equipped property, with a big lounge and dining table for a large group. Plenty of bathrooms. Overall the cottage has a quality finish
This was an old but very clean property in a great location in the Peak District. Very creaky floors which I guess is to be expected for its age. Nice really well equipped high spec kitchen but both fridges and the freezer were difficult to open as they werent fixed in the housing of the fitted kitchen. The busy road right outside the house was very noisy and meant that windows could not really be open especially at night it was hot on floor 1 and ground floor and it was not possible to use the garden comfortably to relax due to the noise of heavy traffic passing by constantly. 3 private parking spaces allocated to the property were not guaranteed to be available to use for 5 days of our stay due to being used by customers visiting the fish and chip shop opposite. This caused problems for our 3 car party. This issue was mentioned in an email but only after booking and payment. Bedrooms a good size main ensuite bedroom ground floor door impossible to close. Beds comfortable and clean. Lots of bedroom cupboard space and bathrooms very nicely done. Im sure plenty of others will enjoy and have enjoyed a lovely time here and we were okay but for the price point I think there are simple maintenance improvements that could be made and the noisy roadparking issues should be mentioned before any payment is made as this could be a dealbreaker for those seeking peace and quiet.
Rachel
Beautiful house with excellent amenities. Very spacious and clean inside and a lot of thought has gone into making sure that everthing that could be needed is provided, in the kitchen particularly. The only criticism and its not of the house, is the busyness of the road outside. We normally have windows open at night but had to close them because of the noise. Not a deal breaker or anything owners can do but it is a busy road Great location for walking, has decent pub just down the road, amazing fish and chip shop the smallest cutest one across the road and fabulous Indian Curry Cottage 2 minutes down the road. We had a great stay

No hairdryers. Impossible to contact Sykes Cottages organisation either by phone, text or email. I wonder how guests would ask for advice or help during their stay in a Sykes property.
