Lower Lane House Reviews

Very nice house in a very beautiful surrounding. One of the best we had so far. In spite of the bad weather we had a very good time. The only thing was that the furniture in the living room wasnt very logical placed and we werent allowed to move it. Furthermore a wonderful house with loads of comfort and space. Everything you could think of or needed was there.
Entirely suitable for our group of 7 plus one dog Garden totally secure Everything that we needed was available Beds very comfortable Would definitely recommend Fish and chip shop reasonably priced. Not the best, but for the price couldn't complain Indian takeaway very good Cafe round the corner serves a lovely breakfast
Plenty of space in a great location for local walks, excursions into the peak district, trains into Manchester and Sheffield, with the huge bonus of excellent beer and food offering at The Old Hall and Papermill pubs. Only small niggle was the shortage of mugs, glassware and cutlery.
House was very clean, well equipped and roomy with a nice garden. Local facilities were close by

We had a great family weekend, the cottage was ideally situated, clean & well equipped. I would definitely go back again. A special mention to the cleaner who found my sons wallet & rang us straight away.
Francesco
Clean, comfortable and perfect location for the many walks from the closeness from the house.
Really lovely property in an excellent location to explore the Peak District. The village had amenities and a couple of nice pubs in walking distance.

We were very impressed with the property and are hoping to book for next year though price seems to have gone higher when we checked availability. The decor, bedding, cleanliness were all to a high standard. The garden was lovely. There were only 2 little niggles. One was that the lounge layout made it difficult for us to sit around TV together. Lounge would work better if TV was on fireplace wall and then lounge sofas and chair could be reconfigured. The other niggle is the driveway was tight for 2 cars. We had 3 cars and the third one had to park quite some distance away 2 roads. If it was my property I would modify front garden to make drive bigger. I appreciate this is a lot of work though and expensive but would make it so much easier to get luggage out of cars without having to climb into garden

Had a lovely stay at this property, very clean and spacious,in a very good location for exploring the Peak District. Would highly recommend.
Lovely house and property in a perfect location. ....steps from convenience store and excellent coffee shop.
Jackie
Lovely spacious house in the middle of Chinley village close to pubs, restaurants, village shop and station.
Lovely house. Plenty of room for us all to spend time together. Rooms bigger than expected. Beautiful location and village.
Just had a lovely weekend here for my Dads 89th birthday. The house is lovely, there were 8 of us plus a dog and we had plenty of room. Everything we needed and more was there. Lovely welcome pack. We enjoyed the open fire and it was very handy having 3 loos! The views from the bedrooms are amazing. Id definitely recommend this as a place to stay in the area.
What a lovely warm, homely cottage this place is feeling spacious even for 6 of us and a Golden Retriever in a beautiful and convenient location with an enclosed rear garden but with a few niggles. Let's start in the kitchen it is only fair to mention that this property is missing some standard kitchen basics such as an ice cream scoop, oven gloves, baking trays of any description yet loads of pots and pans!, or storage for personal food. Bearing in mind this is a property that sleeps 8 there is virtually nowhere to store any food you might have brought with you or bought whilst out and about. The fridge freezer is great but the lights on the Rangemaster didnt work which was inconvenient. Water waste from kitchen sink plastic drain kept coming away from the outer wall leaving all the grey waste to simply pour onto the concrete path outside the kitchen. The door to the outside from the kitchen is so stiff it is almost impossible to open and close. Fortunately, there are wide, easyopening patio doors from the lounge to the rear garden area. The lounge is odd. There isnt enough seating for everyone if all 8 berths are used and then its completely disjointed so families cannot all sit easily together. Some seating is set around the fire whilst others are set around the TV. Notices are quite adamant that you arent allowed to rearrange the furniture due to damaging the beautiful floor understandable but why then cant the decent sized TV be moved to the same wall side as the fire and have all seating around both the fire and TV allowing the whole group to watch a film together or cosyup sharing stories around the fire a simple change which would have made our stay significantly better. The sofas were different than in the pictures. They have been upgraded and are very comfy. The second small lounge was really useful and very cosy. A big plus. The dining room also worked well for us as a family of 6. It doubled up as a games room for us to play card and board games. Might be a tight squeeze for 8. The bathrooms are pleasant spaces although the toilet seats in 2 of the 3 toilets arent designed for men to stand up to wee in as the seat physically cant stay up without being held in place. The showers are good if used on their own. Unfortunately, you cant use them at the same time, water pressure and heat vanishes when showering upstairs if someone starts using the downstairs shower. A towel hook close to the showers themselves would be a nice touch rather than having to leave towels on the floor. The towels are lovely and soft but not really large enough to walk around the property with especially when there is no curtain, covering, or frosting over the glass front door. The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of storage although one of the twin beds is extremely soft which was a shame as most of them were lovely, firm, and comfy. The landing and stairs have a lovely comfy carpet and whilst the stairs look very grand and luxurious theres not much room to get past to the kitchen, showerroom, and dining room areas. There are also parking issues. We came in two vehicles, a large Ford Tourneo which we appreciate is large and wouldnt fit on the drive but our other vehicle is only a Citroen C5 Aircross which I would consider a typical sized family car. I could only just fit it on the drive by getting right up close to the front wall. Again for a large family property, to utilise the 8 berths, better parking is required and could be fairly easily accommodated by a bit of landscaping at the front. I appreciate this sounds rather negative but really we wanted to highlight a few frustrations we had as we had an overall really lovely time here. There is so much to enjoy and admire about the property, it was a relaxing stay and it will be on our shortlist of places to return as overall, it worked well for us.
Christine
We were a family of 8 with 2 small dogs and the layout of the house was good for us in that everyone had space to do whatever they wanted. Because of the weather we spent a lot of time together but it wasnt a problem. Going off previous reviews we were prepared not to have enough crockerycutleryseats and found this not to be the case. A Christmas dinner was produced for all 8 people and the welcome of the large Christmas tree was very much appreciated.
Sharon
Lovely warm and welcoming cottage and well positioned for our family get together close to good walks and great pubs book at busy times Just a few very minor points is that there were 8 of us and couldnt all sit comfortably in the lounge where we usually spend a lot of our time after walks and meals out No welcome pack or starter pack for the fire Washing machine very complicated to use but didnt work as went on for hours mentioned in a previous review Back door extremely difficult to open and after day one we used the patio door as was afraid of breaking it! Back garden was a huge bonus for our two dogs and being secure was much appreciated but the bushes and gutters on the patio need attention as you get wet going to the dustbins Would definitely use again for our family but suggest a new lounge and dining room redesign to seat 8 comfortably The drive was used comfortably for 2 small cars but we parked the others down the road in the car park with no problems Thanks for our stay and we hope to be back soon x
Pauline
We had a really lovely holiday in this charming house . The house is perfectly positioned for getting into the wonderful Derbyshire hills, with their wonderful views and walks. We also very much enjoyed the local just down the road Nature Trail , which could become a circular walk from the house.
Sébastien
Beautiful house with a lot of space and comfortable amenities. Very good location
Joanne
Despite the weather, our family was so pleased with this property it was so nice. Lovely big rooms so we didnt feel we were on top of each other. The beds were so comfy, the kitchen was well equipped. Sadly because of the weather we didnt spend much time in the garden but it was secure for the dogs.
Awsome. Really clean and comfy house. Easy to use... looking forward to doing it again.
Lovely village with a real community spirit. Pubs and good selection of eateries. Easy access to Manchester on the train. House warm and cosy. Beds very comfortable and wooden floors ideal for dogs. Garden very secure. Plenty of room and 3 toilets great. Few minor issues. Step onto gravel a little tricky with two cars parked. Had to buy peeler and grater as not provided. Could do with more cups, glasses and plates as constantly washing up to use again. Washing machine is faulty as it doesnt move through the cycle and stays on for hours. Overall great stay walks and scenery fantastic.
Lovely cottage with plenty of room for our party of 7. Accommodation well thought out, beds and sofas all very comfortable. Kitchen well equipped everything you possibly need for a comfortable stay. Great Christmas break. Highly recommend and will most def book again.

Stayed at Lower Lane House for a country side birthday getaway with family. It was a very comfortable stay and the property was as described. Would definitely book property again, Highly recommend.
Claire
Lower lane house is a wonderful place to stay, it was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our family of 9 including 2 children and a newborn. This is one of the nicest properties we have stayed in over the last few years as an extended family, comfortable beds, enough bathrooms, well equipped kitchen and plenty of space to spread out as well as a separate dining room for meals. The pictures online dont do it justice, it is certainly much bigger and spacious than it appears from the photos or indeed from the front of the house! Would recommended the chippy a short stroll away and the Indian takeaway just a few doors down. We would love to return here in the near future, thank you for a fabulous stay.
Great location, lovely big house, very clean and comfortable. Would recommend to anyone. Only downside was the drive as mentioned before in people's feedback you cannot fit 2 cars on it. Overall a fantastic stay !
Nice cottage in good location. Furniture in lounge a bit tired and needs upgrading. Needs a long sausage type pillow for king sleigh bed as pillows fall down the gap. No starter pack was provided. Will book here again
Had a lovely stay at Lower Lane, location was great with local shop, chip shop and Indian takeaway all in walking distance. Lovely childrens playground a 2 minute walk away on opposite side of road behind the community centre . The house was large and airy and stayed cool in the very hot weather. The king size bed was the comfiest bed we have ever slept on. Lots of places to visit nearby.
Patricia
Had a great time with family some of which were visiting from Australia, house was perfect and in a great location. Definitely recommend and would return.
Justin
Had a great time,lovely home,
Very nice house just the layout could be arranged better as there was no bathroom cabinet in the downstairs bathroom but there was one in the downstairs toilet. the bedroom where the king size bed was hasnt got enough wall sockets so i had to use the other bedroom to find a socket and a mirror which another one of our party was using. also the drive looks bigger on the picture of the house on line than it actually is but there is room to the left that could be made into parking as its a biggish house and this lets it down.they are just small things and we loved staying there and the garden was perfect for our dog.
Excellent facilities We really appreciated this lovely cottage and hope to return
Excellent accommodation for the weekend. Lovely area with some really nice walks right from the door step. Lovely views of the land around. Nice to have somewhere to relax in comfort after a days walking.
A fantastic house with lots of attention to detail. Loved the huge hall and staircase to the large landing. Plenty of books to browse through. A bonus to have the 3 toilets, 2 showers and the lovely bath. Everything spotless. Excellent location next door but one to a Londis. Chippy and Indian restaurant very good. Fully enclosed garden appreciated for our lively dog!
Very, very pleased with everything about the cottage, only one exception was the front parking, I feel there is enough space with only a smallish amount of effort to extend the parking to fit two modern large cars which at present would be extremely difficult if not impossible to fit in without being on the main road. But as our guests were unfortunately unable to share the cottage with us we only had the one car, so our stay was really great. Thank you so much.
Good standard of accommodation. Great position for exploring the beautiful Peak District. Property kitchen well stocked for utensils, cutlery, cookware etc and a sizeable dining room meant we could all eat together.
A lovely house and area. We had a couple of issues, one being no wi fi, but owner was very prompt in helping resolve both problems. There are lots of beautiful walks in chinley village and surrounding area. A lovely holiday for our extended family, which lower lane house was easily big enough to accommodate. Would love to return one day.
There was an outside light that was on all the time but was raised with owner. Wifi wouldn't connect to anything but it wasn't really an issue for us. Comfortable beds and sofa, clean house and very spacious for 6. Well appointed for our needs and the perfect place to come back to after the days we spent exploring.
