The Dairy Reviews

Property Manager was very responsive and property excellent overall. Located in a beautiful area. My only gripe is the checkout time of 930am is a little early. Should be 11am.
Edward
We had a lovely time at The Dairy. Beautiful house in a beautiful spot and everything worked great. Owners very communicative about everything.
Elaine
A wonderful holiday location we all really enjoyed it. One little point. If the gate could have been covered so the dogs couldnt see the sheep through it, it would have made us relax a bit more, we did worry about the dogs getting out and chasing the sheep, Im glad to say it happen, but it the worry was there. But as I say a wonderful holiday spot thank you
Stephanie
We stayed here for a weekend to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday with family, and it exceeded all our expectations. The photos on the booking site simply didn't do it justice! The property was immaculately clean throughout, with spacious bedrooms and incredibly comfortable beds. The kitchen was well equipped with a good stock of essentials, making it easy to cater for a large group. We were also greeted with lovely welcome baskets in both the main accommodation and the annexe, complete with tea bags, biscuits, dog treats and poo bags, plus milk waiting in the fridge such thoughtful touches that made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Before our stay, Vicky was fantastic to deal with on WhatsApp. She took the time to recommend local places to eat so we could book somewhere special for my husband's birthday, which was really appreciated. During our stay, when I messaged to ask how to access the annexe having completely missed the information in the welcome pack!, she called me straight away and got us sorted. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The hot tub was fantastic a great size and wonderfully hot and the views from the back of the property were absolutely beautiful, with sheep and lambs in the surrounding fields. Despite being so close to open countryside, the garden felt very secure and we were completely comfortable letting our dogs enjoy the outdoor space without worrying about them escaping. If I had to find any faults at all, they would be very minor. The hot and cold hose pipes could perhaps be labelled more clearly we accidentally used the hot one when washing one of the dogs!, and we couldn't find a frying pan. However, these really are tiny points in what was otherwise an exceptional stay. We were fortunate to have lovely weather, which meant we could make full use of the outdoor seating areas, including the picnic benches, large table and plenty of chairs. Even so, we'd happily return whatever the weather. The space worked perfectly for our group, the location was wonderful, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. One of the best holiday homes we've stayed in. Thank you for a fantastic weekend!
Great place, lovely scenery and walks, clean comfortable and attractive accommodation. Lay out of the main sitting room is not great as everyone sits on the sofa in a row. Not good for conversation, or for watching the TV which is at one end. Well equipped and appointed kitchen. Does the outdoor hot tub have to be on all the time on a thermostat? It seems a waste of energy, especially as probably lots of people don't use it. Could there be an instruction to turn it on a couple of hours before desired use?
Beautiful location, lovely cosy cottage, great for family get together. As a family group with 4 dogs it was great that they could all be accommodated too, as so many places just take one or 2 small dogs.. Only comment would be that I messaged owner the week before to ask about access in snow as it was forecasted for our weekend. Owner reassured us that cleaners would be going in and out and using access road so it would be fine, however as the organiser of the weekend, it would have been helpful if owner manager had proactively contacted me on the day to reassure me about ease of access, as by the time I got back from work at lunch time on Friday, the rest of my group had decided that we couldnt go because of the snow! I hadnt realised that the managers number was provided on the Sykes App and so I called Vicky the manager, who reassured me it would be fine and she had accessed property herself. When we arrived there was help on hand to get one of our party up the drive who had got stuck in the ice. Throughout the weekend Vicky was always available on Whats App and sorted snags with heating etc very promptly. On a purely practical and minor note not a complaint!, forgot to bring salt and it would have been good to have some in kitchen. The kitchen was really well equipped but I gather there was no potato peeler so that may be worth adding too. Thanks for a lovely weekend, would come again.
The cleanliness could be improved lots of cobwebs and dust under searing and ... The cleanliness could be improved lots of cobwebs and dust under searing and found pair of pants under bedroom drawers which must have been left by previous occupant Whilst the peppery statss sleeps 14 I dont think the room is big enough for 24 people not enough kitchen worktop or seating area for people to relax comfortably Would be good if left some guidance on walks out of the property on how to get into youlgreve etc
Beautiful property in isolated peaceful locale with stunning views. Very well maintained and equipped. Large comfortable communal space with spotlessly clean bathrooms all ensuite. Big tidy private garden with ample parking space. Fantasitc venue for a large family gathering. Small annex and immaculately maintianed hot tub were a great bonus. Big thank you to Vicky the property manager for excellent, promt and friendly responses to minor queries. Only thing that prevented maximum score across all feedback categories was the large sofa in the main building smelled 'doggy' and contained a fair amount of dog hair from previous guests. As the only dog allergic member of the party I needed to get the hoover out and avoid sitting on the sofas.Thank you for a wonderful stay. We hope to return another time.
Joanne
Fabulous short break, great to get family all together in this lovely property, and fantastic that we could take all of our dogs with us. Thank you.
Elaine
Excellent property it was our second visit and we all really enjoyed it ,we couldn't fault anything it was large enough for everyone to have their own space and to do their own thing, the big kitchen diner is comfy and inviting , certainly recommend and hope to visit again.
We had a great stay at The Dairy. It is very well equipped and very comfortable for a large family or group of friends with the bonus of being dog friendly.
Claire
The dairy was the perfect venue for our family gathering for my 70th birthday . The setting in the beautiful Peaks countryside and accommodation were just right. My three grandchildren and nephews were very happy playing in the garden. Everyone lived the hot tub ! Charlie border collie was very happy too. XX
Robert
A great location for a group. Scenery is fantastic and many public footpaths, one at the side of the property, that offer a variety of scenic walks down river valleys and over fields. Routes that will circle back to rhe property. Suggest you download a walking App, many footpaths to choose from. Property is fairly new, so in great condition. Although not clear in description, all rooms have a shower, so no worries having fight for one. Kitchen equipment & utensils in abundance. Tall fridge, and freezer, so plenty of room for food & drink for the 11 in our party. Lots of seating & tables outside. Would have no hesitation returning.
Christina
Stayed here 25th April for my sons 40th surprise weekend. 6 Adults. 5 Grandchildren and 8 dogs between us. Absolutely perfect place for large groups, it was so lovely to be able to sit tigether on the huge corner settee, and have food sat around the large dining table. Everyone including the children had an ensuite which they thought was brilliant. Myself and hubby and our 1 dog stayed in the little cottage that was joined on, which suited us as we get up very early and did not disturb rest of family. Garden had the most amazing views over unspoilt fields, lovely place to relax in and enjoy a cuppa or wine. And Everyone e joyed the jacuzzi with a view. Went on 2 brilliant walks, 3hrs plus, one with a pub stop in the village of Youlgreave. Would definitely recommend this place and thank you very much to the owners for sharing their beautiful. Stunning place. Also thank you to vicky for your help with any query we had. Definitely be back in the future.
We had a fabulous time at the Dairy & the Cottage. We celebrated a 40th birthday with the full family kids, grandparents, dogs, and all. Everything was perfect when we arrived. Vikki responded to any questions within minutes. The hot tub was hot and steamy, ready for us to jump in. Everything worked perfectly. The cottage & dairy were lovely and warm. Walks out of the front door were varied and suited all abilities. vikki kindly let us arrive early to meet the shopping delivery and decorate, and let us leave late. Would highly recommend, wouldnt hesitate to return. Thanks from the Howard, Dickson, Dunkley Families!
A lovely property, perfect for larger groups with lots of dogs! Ideal spot for some lovely walks, we even saw deer! Everything needed was provided, would definitely recommend
The dairy was a fabulous place to stay. Clean warm and welcoming. The hot tub was great too. Would recommend.
Elaine
The family stay was enjoyed by all of us from age 19 to 74 we couldn't fault any thing. Lovely setting ,warm, clean, and everything you could possibly need.
Tasnim
Property was lovely and spacious. Hot tub outside was excellent. Only issue was the second slab near the wood burner which was coming in the way as people passed along to come to the dinningkitchen area. one of us tripped twice.Otherwise it was a enjoyable holiday.
Plenty of room. Comfy beds, large dining kitchen area. Fantastic views and close enough to amenities. Maybe switch around the table and sofa chairs in the dining area if possible. Great holiday
What a beautiful property in a stunning location. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Carry
Rosemary
Overall we had a lovely holiday. The property is in wonderful countryside with fantastic walks on the doorstep. Vicky was very helpful and gave us lots of information on the area. The dairy and annexe are very well equipped and we appreciated all the maps provided. The beds were comfy but the pillows are very bulky and firm, so bring your own if you prefer soft pillows! There are a couple of laminated information sheets but a comprehensive house file is needed for detailed information about how things work in the house, where to find things, nearest shops etc. We had a few plumbing issues which meant three of the showers were out of action. The maintenance man came twice but seemed unable to fix them during our stay.
A great weekend break in The Dairy. Terrific location and a very wellequipped and well maintained property. Would certainly recommend. A few minor points for the owners we have had a holiday rental on various sites for 25 years. Price seemed to be topend at 1900 and the other properties at Lowfield Farm were not occupied, so flexible pricing might help with occupancy numbers. A Book of the House would be a really useful addition with how everything works, local facilities, public footpaths etc in one place. The laminates were ok, but not comprehensive e.g. told to switch off hot tub, but not where we worked it out, but better written down. How to switch off outside lights ? On a timer, but on all night ? Couldn't find ovengloves ? Sure they must have been there somewhere. Missed the instruction to strip bed linen and place in bathroom laundry bags would help, and save servicing time. Wooden garden furniture showing its age. Hope this helps. We intend to be back as it was a memorable place to visit, and Youlgrave is a great village to hang out in.
Thank you so much for a fantastic stay! We had an amazing time. The house, the weather and seeing the northern lights made it a very special birthday weekend. The house was fully equipped, clean and comfortable. The hot tub was amazing and enjoyed by everyone. The house was perfect for a big family get together. General enquiries were responded to very quickly and Vicky went above and beyond! Thank you so much. We will be back!
We went as a family and had a wonderful time. The location itself is perfect and the property exceeded all of our expectations. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a family gettogether or a holiday.
The Dairy and Annex were wonderful and we reqlly enjoyed our stay. The only comment we had is the layout of the living area in the Dairy. Whilst the old church pew is lovely, it dominates the room and restricts the living area for a large group. We ended up turning the dining table around and moving the setties into 2 halves to create more of a social ushape seating area around the fire, but this was obstructed by the pew. A shorter bench seatpew for the dining table, allowing a cshape settee area would be much more sociable for groups of 10, which isbwhat the cottage caters for. This was the only downside for a large group, everything else was perfect and our 6 group dogs loved the garden and house. The walks from the property are fab and we did several. A great place to stay with friends.
Evelyn
We had a wonderful stay in The Dairy with all the family to celebrate my husband and my 60th birthdays. The accommodation was perfect. Very clean. Lots of space for all of us.The kitchen was so well stocked. Each bedroom and bathroom were beautiful. The cosy cottage next door proved to be very useful as an 'overflow' for fridge space etc as well as additional livingsleeping space. The location and surrounding area were amazing, even in wet weather! And the welcome pack is always a bonus. The Dairy is ideal for a large group of people.
Dipesh
Ben was such a lovely host and the accommodation is outstanding. There were 8 of us and we all had a bed. Thank you for a lovely weekend!
If you are thinking far from the madding crowd, this is the place for you. Technology even for our adult children took second place to the idyllic surroundings including from out hot tub!!. Any minor niggles were quickly dealt with by the caretaker and don't worry if you collect bottles and recycling, these are collected routinely or with just a message. I couldn't complete this message without mention of the single line access to the property which we got stuck in and had to reverse on an upward incline irritating initially but adapted by sending out a recce' team. Minor inconvenience for the pleasure of being here. In all, we loved this place, its character, the amenities and the surroundings.
The Dairy was perfect for our large family group of 9 adults, two children and a dog. I had messaged David prior to arriving and he had confirmed stair gates bottom and top of stairs high chair and travel cot. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and crockery and the open plan kitchendininglounge worked well for us. One point of note for the owners a washing line somewhere in the garden would have been useful as we had to drape washing over garden chairs and tables noticed that farmhouse had a rotary line. Access to the property can be a bit tricky, especially if meeting a car coming in opposite direction. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We had a brilliant week in the Dairy. Everything was wonderful. Thanks to David for his help
This was the perfect holiday accommodation for our family gathering to celebrate a 'big birthday'. Ages ranged from 3 to 75, and we had everything we wanted. The views from the hottub were stunning, and the hot tub itself was hugely popular as the weather was cool, windy and wet! Plenty of space indoors too, and the charging point for our car was a great bonus.

Had a lovely family stay at the dairy. It is set in a beautiful location and all rooms in the property were lovely. The kitchen was well equipped and the log fire and hot tub enhanced a wonderful relaxing holiday. Dave the caretaker was on hand and very helpful for any queries. Would definitely stay here again for a big family gathering.
We stayed at The Dairy the first weekend in March. We were three families getting together to celebrate a birthday. We had a fabulous stay. The Diary is located in a beautiful part of the Peak District with a waking route on the doorstep. The Dairy has five lovely bedrooms, all ensuite which was perfect for our families. The open plan kitchen, dining and seating area was warm and cosy and very well equipped. We had some lovely meals sitting round the large table after a hearty walk. The hot tub was definitely a hit with everyone especially as it looks out across the valley. Would love to come back, explore the area more and stay at the dairy again .
We had a wonderful 3 generation Christmas stay at The Dairy. We thoroughly enjoyed all the extensive facilities including the hot tub and the caretaker was very helpful. We would highly recommend. Thank you!
We had a fabulous weekend at the Dairy, the property with its additional self contained cottage really fulfilled the needs of our party. The log burner with constant supply of wood was brilliant and the overall highlight of the property for us was definitely the hot tub which was well used by all. A special mention to David the caretaker who answered calls over the weekend to answer a couple af questions we had and kept us topped up with firewood!

We had an amazing stay, we were a big group of friends with children and had everything at our disposal for a wonderful stay. The hot tub was especially popular!
