Broadwood Farm Reviews

Stuart
House and views amazingly beautiful. Very cosy. We were disappointed that we only got 8 pages of instructions at 9.18 pm the night before we left!. We had been away and due to leave again the next day. It would have been really helpful to have received them before. Had we wanted to use the Aga we couldnt have done it as it takes 48hours to get it going we were told. We had lovely gifts left and wood for the fire. All in all lovely.
An amazing week we were all celebrating our 50th years on this planet and revisiting the Peak District & Sheffield, as we all were at university there in the 90's. The farmhouse was fantastic and the location perfect for all our walks.
Perfect from start to finish, very spacious accommodation. The views were fantastic. What a treat to have a new gas Aga made cooking so simple. Will be returning at a later date. The Ibbotson family and friends
A spacious, comfortable house with an amazing view over the hills and fields of Hathersage. Great location with access to shops, restaurants and walks. The kitchen is always cosy even in the aftermath of a snowstorm! Despite some mixed January weather we had a fabulous time, and will never forget walking Mam Tor in the snow. Beautiful! Thanks to the owners for keeping us updated on local weather conditions, gritting paths and driveways, and making sure the house was warm on arrival.
From the second we arrived, to when we left, we loved our stay. The weather wasn't great but the views were fabulous! We are a group of female friends and family, aged 1983, and we all loved our stay. Many agreed it was the best house we'd stayed in. The AGA kept the kitchen toasty and the little touches were lovely. The steep area for parking kept us on our toes when parking but our 3 small cars fit perfectly. Would definitely recommend.

This was a great space for a group holiday. Each of the bedrooms was comfortable for adults and having two lounges and a dining room to spread out into during the week was helpful. The walk down to Hathersage is 15 mins and makes it easy to pop down for additional supplies. There is a big range of mugs, plates and cutlery which is very helpful for a large group. The wifi and boosters worked well during our stay and we appreciated the little additional touches soap in the bathrooms, a radio in the kitchen, extra throws in the lounges and the welcome pack of teacoffeemilk and biscuits. The photos on the website need updating as the dining room is now in the entrance area, which provides two cosy lounges with fires and tvs. We thought this was a positive change in the layout. The beds were comfortable and the additional chairs in two of the bedrooms was a nice touch so some of our group could read their books in quiet. We also liked the desk area in one of the bedrooms which was used for some work calls during the week by different guests. We only found the dvd and games in the hidden drawer of the lounge table at the end of the stay. It also should be mentioned that bedroom 1 upstairs is ensuite so the other 3 rooms shared the main bathroom, however 2 of the rooms had their own sinks and there is also a downstairs toilet, so this worked better than we thought when we arrived.

Stunning location and close to many attractions. Well equipped and ample space Kitchen a little tired and limited work space but still managed a Sunday roast! Booked both cottages which is perfect for a large group.
The highspec cottage is beautifully kept and equiped. It has everything you could need. And we were left some very thoughtful treats and basics which was really appreciated! The views are stunning and we had morning tea and lunch outside looking at the autumn colours. And did amazing walks from thendoor. We were so cosy inside with the log burners, blankets and comfy sitting rooms. The owners were very accommodating to our needs. Thankyou very much !
A beautiful farmhouse with stunning views of the Hope Valley. Convenient for hiking within the area but also close enough to Hathersage to access all facilities required we didnt use our car. The house itself was cosy, welcoming and was stocked with utensils to make your stay complete.
Gillian
Beautiful cottage with amazing views, really well equipped and super comfy beds. Great location, walkable to the village and beyond. Could hear the road but didnt detract from our stay at all, would definitely return
Perfect for us, 8 adults and a dog to enjoy a spacious inside and out, comfortable and well equipped property in a lovely area of the Peak District. Views are fabulous, the beds are super comfy, it is only a short downhill walk into Hathersage and you don't have to worry about loud laughter as you have no immediate neighbours. On reflection, we felt we left the kitchen esp. glasses and cups and utility room cleaner than it was than when we arrived, also non of us are used to sleeping so close to a, at times, noisy road we appreciate the latter is not something that can be changed and would not put us off returning.
What a wonderful cottage and hosts. Absolutely beautiful views from the garden, and although the road is right by the house, it did not disturb us at all. Very well equipped kitchen and great to have multiple social rooms. Very accommodating hosts and useful to have parking for two cars, with overflow parking across the road if needed. Also ideal for our dog that the garden is secure so he could run around. Would not hesitate to recommend.
We had a lovely time, the house is very well stocked and comfortable, and the view across the valley is wonderful. Andrew and Lynn were also very generous with gifts of bread and homemade jam delicious.
Hannah
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Broadwood Farm. The location of the house was fantastic and the house was very well equipped which is great as they so often aren't. The bedrooms were all a good size and the bathrooms modern and spotlessly clean. We really liked the fact that there were multiple areas to socialise including a table in the generously sized kitchen, two living room areas and a dining room. So often when you book places for a large group the dining tables don't seat everyone which is frustrating but the one at Broadwood Farm was a great size for our group. The garden was lovely and we had great weather so the kids with us were able to play outisde. The information we were sent beforehand was incredibly comprehensive and there was a lovely welcome basket left for us on arrival. We would definitely recommend staying here and would book again if we return to the Peaks.
This could, and should, have been a very nice cottage for us. However, the ground floor is in need of redecoration as there are many grubby places. The kitchen units, in particular, were truly awful. Peeling paint on the doors, the door handles and their surounds were disgusting. The sink was also full of brown stains. Likewise, toilets had not been cleaned properly particularly the underside of the toilet seats. This property is in need of a deep clean. It was a shame because it was a spacious property, had a decent sized garden and stunning views.
Catherine
Lovely property and friendly owner. Quite noisy from the road. Some of the finish is now a bit tired, but well equipped, very spacious and fantastic views.
One of best properties Ive stayed in
Beautiful cottage that offered a very cosy break in the snowy weather, well stocked with essential utilities & very well maintained. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Harriet
The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed for an amazing stay, Lynn and Andrew were really quick to sort out any issues and help us have an amazing stay. We will be back!
Tamara
Lovely property, we had the best stay!
Really enjoyed our stay at Broadwood Farm. A lovely farmhouse with lots of character. Really well equipped for cooking and fantastic location for lovely walks and exploring. Several pubs in walking distance which is a bonus.
Simone
Wonderful property with spectacular views. Great location, with Hathersage just a short walk away. Lovely delipubseateries and all amenities. We even used the local and very charming outdoor pool in the center of the village. Property is well equipped, warm and cozy. Beds were comfortable. And the bathrooms pristine. Great communication with the owners too, who bent over backwards to accommodate our needs.
Amazing stay for our wedding weekend with all of our friends! Thanks a lot!
We really enjoyed our stay. Excellent position with stunning views and lovely walks to the village. Clean and very comfortable. Lovely touch by the owner providing us with some goodies for our arrival. Quite a find, will definitely book again!
Broadwood Farm was a wonderful house and base for our walking weekend. It had a cosy homely vibe with great facilities and was clean and well presented. The winning feature was the view which was stunning. Would definitely book again.
Great house and location, the house is well equipped and the owners were responsive to questions. We generally had an enjoyable stay in Hathersage and couldn't fault Broadwood farm would stay there again.
Catherine
The farmhouse is spacious and comfortable with amazing views. The owners were kind, helpful and welcoming. The house is very well equipped and wellmaintained.
We were a group of 8 girls on a hiking weekend. The cottage is stunning, even more beautiful in real life. We had stunning views with outdoor seating. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms were modern and clean. Facilities were great too and an added bonus was the Prosecco, chocolates and biscuits. We will definitely return and recommend to others. Thank you!
Sophia
Andrew was very helpful, and the house was delightful.
Christopher
Broadwood Farm is in a stunning position and beautifully renovated so tasteful, really comfortable and wellequipped with everything we could have wished for. We had a wonderful time in a family group celebrating an important birthday, including swimming at the lido on Saturday afternoon great to be able to walk down to Hathersage and so accessible for the Peaks and Chatsworth, where we had a lovely picnic. We can't recommend the property highly enough!
Lovely house with lots of thoughtful extra touches & very kind owners who let us stay an extra night when one of us ended up in hospital after a fall out hiking.
Philip
We had an excellent stay in this lovely property. the view into The Valley is amazing. There is plenty to do nearby including the open air swimming pool. The property is large, cosy and warm. Our dogs appreciated the enclosed garden and hanging out in the kitchen.
Broadwood farm was perfect for our family weekend away. Six adults and three children were all catered for. We managed to cook every meal including a Sunday roast on the aga which was easy to use once we'd figured it out. The property was within easy distance to walk into Hathersage and the garden was safe for the children and dog to play in. Just wished the weather had been a bit kinder but you can't have everything. A few smaller glasses would have been useful but that was the only thing missing. Thankyou we had a lovely weekend and hope to return in the future.
Tracey
This is our second time at Broadwood Farm for a birthday celebration. The cottage is beautiful and benefits from an extra seating area adjacent to the kitchen, a welcome addition! We also very much appreciated the welcome basket, thank you! Perhaps some washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets too? We were really pleased with the cottage overall. The only gripes would be poor water pressure meaning that we had to run one shower at a time and even then it came out as not much more than a dribble, no hot water from Saturday afternoon we left on Sunday otherwise we would have reported this, no mattress protector on one of the double beds. I would be much more inclined to book this property in the future if one of the double bedrooms was a twin. All in all a pleasant stay and we would consider booking again.
Edward
Beautiful old property with stunning views. Loads of room for a large family and a secure garden for the dog. We will definitely be booking again.....recommended.
Broadwood Farm was perfect for our stay over New Year weekend warm, comfortable, very well equipped, with spaces for everyone to do their own thing, as well as for the whole family to get together. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, more in the style of St Nicholas than Santa Claus, as our 9 yearold granddaughter put it i.e. classic & traditional. Having the AGA for heat and cooking was such a treat.
Had a lovely Christmas holiday here. There was 9 of us one a toddler and a 15 yr old with autism. Plenty of space so the 15 yr old was able to not be overwhelmed. Lovely hamper left for us to enjoy. I actually cant fault it. My brother in law said he would have liked 2 pillows but thats not a complaint more a suggestion.
Andrea
We had a fabulous weekend at Broadwood Farm with our friends. The weather was fantastic, which made the views from the cottage even more beautiful and we were able to sit out in the garden with a glass of Champagne looking out across the countryside after a lovely walk up to Stanage Edge, which we were able to start from the door of the farm. We didn't have to use the cars at all. I also can't believe that I must have driven past the Farm hundreds of times as I'd had no idea that it was right on the Sheffield Road, which made it easy to find, albeit with a bit of traffic and train noise. It was handy having the parking area opposite the Farm. We were four couples and each couple took it in turns to cook breakfast and dinner, so it was great that the kitchen was easy to use and wellstocked with all the utensils, pots and crockery that we needed although we only found the citrus squeezer as we were tidying up to leave!. Having hand basins in each of the upstairs bedrooms mean the one ensuite and one main bathroom really workable for us plus the downstairs loo. It's a weekend that will live long in the memory and the cottage was perfect for what we wanted.
Hilary
Lovely characterful cosy farmhouse with joyous views across the Hope Valley.
Debbie
Lovely property with great views. Quirky kitchen and pantry. Comfortable beds! Lots of space. Outdoors is beautiful, shame about the road which can be noisybusy at times. Cleanliness could be improved a notch chair seats were stained, old dog biscuits found under the sofa, dust, toilets smelled a bit. A couple of things that need attending plug in bedroom sink wouldn't rise so couldnt empty the sink. Bath plug wouldn't stay down, couldn't have a bath. Shower on the riser rail was not very good, but main shower was nice. The kitchen tap leaks. Minor things that can easily be fixed. Road was noisy, as was the train close by, but obviously can't be helped. Village of Hathersage is nice. Made use of the outdoor pool which the kids appreciated. Surrounding area is lovely to explore lots and lots of walks and beautiful landscape.
