The Milk House Reviews

Amanda
Great accommodation thanks
Yvonne
We had a lovely family holiday at The Milk House. It was perfect for 3 couples, 1 baby and 1 dog. Near to everywhere we wanted to visit. The owner is friendly and was happy to help when i needed her. Wirksworth is a lovely place to spend some time and would recommend The Hope and Anchor for Sunday lunch.
Joanna
We had a fabulous stay at the Milk House. From the moment we walked in it was warm and cosy with everything we could possibly need. The split level bedrooms were perfect as we were 3 generations and it gave us the space and privacy we needed. Its a great location with lots of things to do nearby a fantastic stay all round!
Charlie
The Milk House is a really well equipped, charming and comfortable house to stay. Inside it is spacious and beautifully refurbished. The outside views are great and it is in a good location for getting out and about in the Peak District and to walk into the local town, which has good shops and places to eat The hosts are really helpful and live next door so are on hand for any queries you may have. I would definitely recommend a male house and would return without hesitation.
Heather
The property was excellent. Perfect for our long weekend. Everyone commented on how nice it was. Clean, well presented, everything we needed. The lovely welcome hamper was much appreciated. Thank you for a great stay. We would definitely recommend to others.
Myself and my family had a fantastic stay at milk House, especially on arrival a nice touch of goodies, much appreciated, the property had everything you could want, nice peaceful area, well situated to plan your days out, alot of walking.
Eleanor
A lovely property and great to be able to wall across the fields into Wirksworth
Elaine
Fabulous cottage with a great welcome pack plus flowers such a nice surprise. Thank you
Lorraine
The milk house is a fantastic place to stay. Its perfect location allows you to easily visit lots of interesting places nearby. The house is spacious clean and well equipped. The only negative is the frying pan needs replacing. The beds are all comfortable and the rooms have so much space. We didnt take a dog but Im not sure the garden is the best for dogs there are chickens roaming around so it would be a worry. But the views across the area are beautiful. There are car parking and we managed to park every day apart from one day when we had to park on the street. The area is so peaceful it ensures you have a relaxing break. Id highly recommend the milk house we had a lovely family gathering together
Great cottage. Perfect for our stay. Close to many great walks. Shopspubs nearby. Spacious and welcoming unusual layout works well. Outside seating area lovely for end of day catch up. We were lucky with the weather and did not need lounge area but it was large enough for 3 sofas. Well equipped. Great welcome pack. Parking never an issue and really short walk to cottage. Hosts lives next door and were friendly and helpful. Only small minor improvement would be to have working plugs in the bedroom sinks which were a bonus Would definitely love to go back
Sophie
The house is very comfortable, lovely and warm, and so well kitted out. Hannah made us very welcome. The car parking is just up the hill, a few meters from the house, so very close by. We enjoyed the terrace with wonderful views and walks that can be done starting from the house. I would recommend this property.
We had a great time at the Milk House, lovely spot and a great location for a few old friends to catch up. Keen to come back again with the family next time!
Joshua
Hi, we've had a brilliant stay thank you for hosting. Location was perfect dogs had a secure garden and the inside space and facilities were perfect.
Phoebe
We had a really lovely stay in the Milk Cottage. We were greeted with a lovely care package full of goodies, and all our questions were answered. The property was super comfortable, we had everything we needed, and we were spoilt for choice on things to do so a fab location! Thanks so much!!
A very well equipped kitchen and plenty of seating for everyone! The room was large and roomy with plenty of sofas to accommodate all of us. Great views from the terrace if you are staying in the summer season. Very clean and beds were also comfortable. Owners were attentive and even help us to unload our stuff, from car to house! Bonus was its was close to Wirksworth centre and nice places to eat and have a few drinks.
Josephine
Re accuracy of listing the property doesn't have a ground floor bedroom bedrooms are on the lower ground or first floor & stairs needed to access all. Also there is no separate WC, the WC is in the shower room. The access to the property is down a sheepish hill from where the car is parked and the path is quite uneven. A tourch is needed if dark and the path would be difficult for those with mobility problems, though there are no steps.
This a beautiful house in beautiful surroundings. Comfortable and very well appointed. The views from the terrace are stunning and the wood burner was a real bonus this November. The hosts were attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.
Lovely cottage. Beds were comfy, bathrooms clean and well kept, kitchen was well equipped and the living room had plenty of seating for everyone. Not too far from Wirksworth centre where there are some nice places to visit and eat. Also good location if you like country walks and fresh air!
This is a lovely wellstocked cottage superbly situated with private patio and garden, the view over Wirksworth being quite special. The living room and kitchen were just the right size for our party of 8 adults, one toddler and two dogs. The four bedrooms over two floors were large and comfortable with decent family bathrooms serving each pair. The owner lives next door and was generous with welcome gifts and local advice as well as lending us equipment from her own kitchen!. Overall, a brilliant stay in a fabulous location.
The property was lovely throughout with little that could be improved. Hannah was approachable and aimed to accommodate our requests. A small point post the visit of the broadband workmen the door was actually left ajar and the sliding side gate wasn't replaced.
Wonderful property in a great location. The space is clean comfortable and welcoming with lots of little touches. The beds were all comfortable and the rooms were spacious and well furnished We were a group of 4 friends and had a bedroom each but this space would be comfortable for full occupancy of 8 people. We were able to park all 4 cars in the spaces at the top of the path. There was a very generous welcome basket on arrival including tea coffee wine and even fresh flowers. We had a fabulous weekend and wouldnt hesitate to book the Milk House again if we return to the area.
A great house in a lovely location with fantastic views and walks from the door. Very close to Wirksworth with lots of facilities, pubs and places to eat. Would highly recommend.
Lovely stay, very well equipped. Location was perfect. The childrens books and games were a great addition. Thank you.
Philip
Very good quality accommodation There were a few minor niggles, such as creaking doors that wake people if doors opened during the night for toileting, or young children going to bed early. Another minor nuisance was the broken wash basin plug in one of the bedrooms.
Very well equipped . High spec bathrooms and kitchen . Beautiful location . Very comfortable throughout .
Great location. Fabulous property just right for a family holiday. Hosts were v friendly and helpful.
George
Really lovely property with an incredible view within the Derbyshire Dales. Perfect for what we were wanting. A nice break away with some of the extended family to get together. Complimentary hamper of goodies, wine and babypet supplies provided. Couldn't have asked for more!
Michael
Only problem is no tv instructions apart from that perfect
We absolutely loved our stay at the milk house. Everything that you needed was there. The welcome basket was very thoughtful and much needed after the long drive from Aberdeen. The cottage is beautiful and the views incredible. The location is perfect with Wirksworth just down the hill. All in all a fantastic stay and Hannah and John couldnt have been more welcoming.
The only comment I have is that there is no 3rd toilet and the downstairs bedrooms were woken up by vibrations from the kitchen, it was rather loud. Other than this, we had an absolute fabulous time, it is a beautiful property and will definitely book with you again.
Gillian
Beds were all extremely comfortable. Kitchen very well equipped. House was very clean. Some more detailed instructions in folder would have been helpful eg room temperature controls, woodburner operation no control over airflow, whether to strip beds at end of stay. No battery in dvd player remote control made operation interesting!
We had a fantastic stay at the Milk House. Wonderful cottage and location.
Lesley
The Milk House was beautiful, everything you needed was there, it was very clean with nice furnishings and beautifully decorated. On arrival we had a basket of goodies which was lovely. Beautiful views of the surrounding area with sheep grazing in the field by the property which was lovely. We had lovely weather which always helps. There was no parking on the site but we didnt have an issue as the owners gave up their driveway space which we used instead so that was very kind and then we parked on the road with other cars so it wasnt really an issue. The Malt Shovel & The Rising Sun pubs within walking distance, both with lovely food and friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend this property. Thanks for our stay.
The cottage is such a joy! We very much appreciated the welcome basket after a long journey thank you. Everything has been thought of within this lovely home. The views are stunning and outdoor family meals were such a pleasure. After a day out we all looked forward to a meal and then relaxing in the spacious lounge and playing games with the children. Beds are extremely comfortable and bedrooms are very pretty.
We had a such a lovely stay at The Milkhouse. Its a lovely house with beautiful views and was beautifully clean presented. Wirksworth is a lovely town and there was plenty to see and do in the local region.
Beautiful house, fantastic location. Very welcoming and helpful host. Lovely welcome pack. We were a party of 7 adults and there was plenty of room for us all. Would thoroughly recommend.
Judeline
Normally we don't revisit a holiday property, however because we find the house itself and the area around it so beautiful and conducive to a relaxing break we have come back several times. The owners don't intrude but are also incredibly helpful if asked. The house itself is well stocked before your arrival with essentials such as hand soap and loo rolls, plus their is a generous welcome pack including good tea, coffee, wine and milk in the fridge. Just right for when you arrive. There is certainly plenty to do from sitting in the sun overlooking the delightful valley to hiking around the many visually appealing trails in the area. Pubs and restaurants are a 15 minute walk away in Wirksworth with good food and some particularly dog friendly pubs try the Hope and Anchor.
I feel the pathdrive could be a bit more user friendly maybe tarmaced its very bumpy for a pram and not good underfoot unloading luggageshopping etc. Also perhaps a signhouse number at the top of the path to make it easier to find the Milk House
A beautiful setting, the view from the patioterrace is breathtaking. Plenty of space in the house and was well equipped. The owners were excellent helpful and friendly. In fact the locals we met around Bolehill were also great to meet and talk with. Thank you so much brilliant.
