Ebenezer House Reviews

Paul Thomas
Our 3rd time at Ebenezer House and it feels like a home away from home. Such a great space, with lots of options to socialise at the dining table or 2 living rooms. Lovely garden for the dog and us. Great pub and a Spar shop 1 min walk away. Countless superb walking routes from the cottage or a short drive away. We'll be back!

Single bed was not comfortable, all other beds were great ! Dishwasher not great, some items in cupboard dirty. Great Sofas and living area. Overall a very nice house. Would prefer a back garden !
Hannah
We spent four nights at the lovely Ebenezer House and enjoyed every minute. The house is lovely and all beds and sofas are extremely comfortable perfect for a family getaway. The location is also perfect, a couple of lovely pubs in Hope just at the end of the road with some great cafes that serve nice coffee and breakfast. We also got a curry from the Curry Cabin in the village and it was gorgeous! Its a great base to also get to neighbouring villages, we walked from the house to Castleton and it did not take long at all, it is about a 1.5 mile walk but it is pretty much one straight road to walk down with lovely views so the walk was lovely. We also visited Bakewell which was under half an hour away and it is gorgeous! Overall the house was amazing and if we were to come to this part of the UK again we would definitely consider booking this house again. Our only negative feedback is that the door handles on the bedrooms and living roomkitchen doors need tightening or replacing as we did struggle to open and close the doors a few times. Also just to note that when we got there the coffee machine hadnt been cleaned and the water tray at the front of the machine did have what looked to be mouldy watermilk in it so we had to clean this when we got there, but that wasnt too much of an issue!
Gillian
Great location. Well equipped. Very comfy and spa house. Would definitely return.
We enjoyed a crossgenerational family break at Ebenezer House six adults, on baby and two dogs and it was just about perfect. The cottage is delightful, well equipped, warm, welcoming and very comfortable. The dogs couldn't be let straight out into the garden, as it is across a pathway and has a low wall, but this had been explained in the description so we knew what to expect. There are some great pubs and walks all within walking distance, and Hope is an excellent base to explore the wider Hope Valley area. Recommended!
Fantastic property which is incredibly individual and very well equipped. Everything worked well from the checkin to the heating and showers. Great location for walking and cycling with some great pubs close by. We really enjoyed our stay.
Lovely cosy cottage particularly the big front lounge. Comfortable beds and warm rooms. position great for pubs, shops and walking. We had a relaxing time thank you. With dogs would be good to have a hose working tap outside front door for muddy weather.

Stunning period property with comfy beds and spacious rooms to relax in. Lovely village and v near to popular Castleton. Fabulous handy farm shop just yards away.
Claire
Absolutely lovely! Great accommodation, great location and so cozy. Beds so comfy and rooms are spacious.
Had a wonderful few days at Ebenezer house. Location was perfect for us with a number of great walks right from the doorstep. The accommodation was comfortable and cosy with plenty of room for 7 of us plus 2 furry family members. Parking is on the street but we found no issues with this and managed to park very close to the house. Communication from the owners when there was a mix up with the towels was excellent and sorted in minutes of reporting. The local pubs were all very nice with the only disappointment of running out of steak and ale pie
Michael
Had a wonderful family celebration in this beautifully appointed house No expense spared on comfortable furnishings and interior decoration Location perfect. ..local shops and pubs in Hope easy to walk to from the house Short drive takes one to lovely Castleton and Chatsworth House. Hope to be back in the future
Christopher
What an amazing place we had a family get away 3 couples and our young children the house is really spaced yet really cosy. The location was brilliant highly recommended
It is a beautiful house and was perfect for our family wedding weekend to get everyone together.
Overall, a comfortable, cosy property in which we had a wonderful week. First impression was negative however the tiled flooring in the entrance hall and kitchen is really grim. It wasn't dirty at all but appears so I certainly advise that it is replaced. Spacious living room, snug, bedrooms and bathrooms are all delightful. The kitchen is small but very wellequipped. The stone steps from the hall down into the cellar are definitely a potential safety hazard I think this should be made clearer in the listing details as guests have to use the cellar regularly to access the freezer, second fridge and washing machine. This property has bags of character and we enjoyed our stay despite the negatives I have described.
Yvonne
What a lovely property Ebenezer House is. We were 5 girls on a walking trip so it worked so well for us. We loved the decor and set up of all the lovely furniture. We had Sunday lunch at the Old Hall pub just on the corner and that was lovely too. We walked to Castleton and back along the river. We also drove to Ashford in the Water and did the Magpie Mine circular walk from there. Very nice stay had by all, we would all recommend it going forward..and we might be back
Eleanor
Absolutely gorgeous house, we had a very comfortable stay. Great location for day trips to Buxton, Bakewell, and can even walk to Castleton. Lovely farm shop, local bakeries and pub within very short walking distance 23 minutes!. Would highly recommend.
Michelle
The cottage is a lovely cottage and had everything we needed for our stay. The welcome pack with wine crisps chocolate coffee and dog treats was amazing.Coffee teabags and sugar where stocked up in caddies which was very thoughtful. There were plenty of dishwasher tablets just one thing to be care of is the top shelf of the dishwasher on one side is broken and if you pull it out too far it drops on the righthand side but not a problem if you are careful. We all had an amazing stay the only disappointment was the dishwasher was full of dirty plates and cutlery and we had to wash them before we could eat but it was not something that would put us off returning.
Ebenezer House was a great place to stay for two families with little ones. Plenty of space and the cellar with stair gate was useful extra storage. Parking was no issue on the road just by the house. Owners were very responsive before and during our stay and sorted out a couple of minor issues quickly for us. We would definitely stay again.
Vivienne
Ebenezer House is a beautiful, warm, comfortable house, with exceptional attention to quality of furnishing and fittings, presented in immaculate condition. We couldn't have felt more at home. It was a delight and a privilege to stay in a house with such history, in such a beautiful setting.
Well equipped cottage and very comfortable Well situated for walkers or bikers
Ebenezer House is wonderful! The big sofa in the living room is perfect for big familyfriends get together as everyone can sit all together. It rained all day on Saturday so we lounged around in pjs with the fire on, watched some films and played some games perfect. Lovely food & drink hamper to enjoy on arrival and everything you can think of that you would need. The only thing I would say is a bit more toilet & kitchen roll would be great, when theres 6 people together you go through a lot! Apart from that it was perfect and the Christmas decorations around the house made it even more special. Lovely and clean and everything just as pictured.
We had a great stay. The house was warm and comfortable in October. Everything worked well. Very nicely decorated to show off the period features. Only a minutes walk to the Old Hall Hotel where we had great food.
Jacqueline
Stayed in this lovely property to celebrate a 60th birthday and was not disappointed with the facilities. The beds were comfortable as was the sofa and I liked the decor. Id read in recent reviews that there had been issues with the shower but it worked fine for us. The location is excellent for exploring the area as well as having three pubs all serving good food, a farm shop, shop and a number of cafes all on the door step.
Rachel
We had a lovely weekend with 6 adults, 1 child and 2 babies. Ample room for everyone and very comfy beds. A handy child gate over the cellar entrance was very helpful for inquisitive littlies. The kitchen is well stocked if you look around and don't forget to look in the cupboard in the snug. The seal around the front door could do with looking at as it only closed properly if you had the bar across itlocked it. Lovely walks straight from the door. We are already planning our next siblings weekend here.
Elizabeth
We loved the cottage, the comfort and the ability to relax in different rooms.
Had a lovely week in this beautiful house. All beautifully decorated and comfortable. Would highly recommend the house and the area. Good pubs nearby and the lovely curry house was awesome
Lovely cottage, perfect location, will defo be returning.
Rebecca
We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay at Ebenezer House. It is ideally located for exploring the Peak District and in the village there are all amenities pubs, cafes, restaurants, bus stops and a convenience store open every day until late. Highly recommend.
Sharon
A lovely spacious 4 bed house, very clean and comfortable with all the amenities needed. Very central and in easy walking distance to shops and pubs all of which we can recommend for lovely food. I would highly recommend to family and friends.
Great property with a lovely homely feel. Worked well for 6 adults and 2 children incl. 1 infant in a travel cot. Clean and cosy. Great location and no problems parking on nearby roads.
Great cottage, nicely decorated and equipped. Good location for walks and pubs for food. Spacious enough for us with 2 family groups including teenagers. No issues with cleanliness.
Stephen
This cottage is fabulous. Extremely comfortable. Beds are brilliant. The surrounding area is great the old hall pub, adventure cafe and Watsons farm shop are all very nice. And the walk up Win Hill is a must. Cant recommend the cottage enough
It is a nice property that could be better. The property could do with a good clean and better prepared for visitors. We arrived on a cold Friday afternoon and I guess the property had been empty all week as it was very cold inside and took a long time to warm up. We had to drive to the next village to buy logs, it would have been nice to have had a few at the property to start us off. The bed needed a mattress cover to hide the stain and cover the bobbly top of the bed as well as a sheet that doesnt come loose in the night. The Bluetooth speaker could not even be setup by one of our guests who is a sound engineer, probably great for the cottage owners, but not usable by guests. There were a few other issues, but lets keep the review brief. As I say a nice property that could be better.
We had a lovely few days celebrating our birthdays with family. The cottage was perfect. Lots of space, warm and cosy, all of home from home amenities and in a great location. Plenty of street parking we had 3 cars so this was a must that didnt disappoint. We would, without hesitation, stay here again. We will definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family and anyone thinking of staying in Hope for a few nights. Huge thank you to Sykes staff for being readily available to help when we needed them.
Samantha
Great property, in a great location. Lovely pub and cafe nearby. We stayed as four adults, three kids snd a dog and the hiuse was a great size for us all. Felt the house could have been cleaned better, there were a lot of cobwebs, even upon arrival. However, the house is extremely well stocked and has everything you need for a great stay. The drainage in the bathroom at the end of the house is a problem. The shower overflows even whilst in the shower a short time. We even cleared out the drain ourselves, but there was still an unpleasant smell at that end of the house. Overall, a lovely traditional house and we had a great stay.
House is in ideal location for exploring the area. We were a group of 6 adults and all the double bedrooms were of a good size, plenty of hot water for showers and excellent sofa area and dining area for us all to be together. We felt the kitchen and bathrooms did let the house down a bit, there was very little storage in the kitchen for food, the fridge didnt close very well in the kitchen and it feels ready for a revamp. Both bathrooms had a strange smell, seems to be a drainage issue, the walk in shower almost overflowing at times. We were very lucky with warm weather for October but then didnt realise the windows on the front of the house cannot be opened, and so were quite warm during the night. The on street parking is quite limited too we found.
We struggled to find the house initially our sat nav took us to a completely different St. The house was very spacious and the kitchen was fully equipped. I thought the welcome package was a lovely thing to do. There are plenty of walks in the area without having to jump in the car and there are plenty of shops and pubs in walking distance.
Elizabeth
Lovely comfortable holiday cottage with plenty of space and very tastefully decorated. Perfect for a catch up with friends from across the country. Good central location with excellent amenities nearby we enjoyed a pub meal and Indian takeaway. Just a few minor niggles, including a very slow draining rainfall shower which threatened to overflow every time we used it. Kitchen small but functional having the microwave in the cellar seemed a bit odd!. Overall would highly recommend.
