Poacher's Arms Reviews

10010. Our hopes were high already and the poachers arms exceeded all expectations! They have honestly thought of everything. As a family weve stayed in many places over the years and this by far had the best facilities with activities and amenities. The working bar is of course the highlight. Seriously special. Also a huge plus is the staff themselves. From booking to checking out they were fantastic. Ive never had hosts so communicative and accommodating. They really do go out their way to ensure you have a fantastic time! Thank you so much!
Elaine
Family of 20 aged from 3 to 75. We had such a lovely time making Christmas time memories. All facilities worked well. Comfortable, warm, and lots to do. Enjoyed every minute from pulling our own pints and having a pre Christmas dinner. Thank you poachers arms, we all had an unforgettable time.
Beverley
What a wonderful property! We were a large group of friends celebrating a special birthday and we couldn't have had a better place to do that .It was spotlessly clean ,had all the amenities you could ever want and so spacious. The host was so helpful and obliging too so everything just ran so smoothly . Highly recommended !

We stayed for one week as a celebration for my husband and his twins 60th birthday. What an absolutely amazing pub! It has everything you could want for a fantastic stay. Plenty of room, bar, games, darts, bbq, childrens play equipment, ensuite to every bedroom. Everything was spotless on arrival and the owners Lisa and Jenny are absolutely fantastic hosts. So helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Its situated in a fantastic location and we hit on great weather too! Cannot recommend this highly enough, we had the best time ever! Our only teeny improvement we could think of would be to have a dryer aswell as a washing machine. But that is so minor, the place truly is amazing. It was so lovely to have all the family together having fun.
Such a unique place to stay in a lovely area with great amenities. Went above our expectations!
Natasha
Absolutely amazing place. Can't pick anything negative at all. Extremely clean, hosts were so friendly and helpful too with brilliant communication. Surrounding area is gorgeous, recommended walking to castleton and onto mam tor. Views were unreal. The whole pub is honestly just outstanding and huge. We are currently looking at dates to come back xx
Rebecca

One of the best and most clever venues we've ever been to! We never ran short of things to do during our 4 night stay despite the weather being a lot more wet than we anticipated. The owners of the poachers arms are also incredibly accommodating and helped us wherever they could, even with some requests that we had which I'm sure they had not heard before A group of 16 of us stayed here and we never struggled for space and the price was very reasonable considering! We will definitely be back in the future!
Lisa and family were great hosts, 2nd time visiting, highly recommend.

I celebrated my 30th Birthday at The Poachers Arms. It was a brilliant week. The venue is well looked after and the rooms were very comfortable. A special shout out to the owner, Lisa, who was the most friendly, helpful and informative host. I really appreciated my stay there. The water pressure was very weak in the showers, even when only one person is showering, and the neighbours are so quick to complain about noise that it makes the guests feel very on edge, even when being considerate and respectful to the neighbours. The location was brilliant, with lots of local pubs, restaurants and walks. Our stay was phenomenal and I would highly recommend the Poachers Arms and anywhere that Lisa is involved in. Thank you for having us!
Andrea
This place is Amazing, plenty of room, fully catered for all our needs. Has a real pub feel to it.
Spent a weekend at the Poachers Arms for my 40th in January and it was absolutely amazing. Lisa the owner met me on arrival and showed me around which was helpful. The rooms were lovely and all en suite. We had children with us and there was so much for them to do they entertained themselves all weekend. The bar was perfect for all gathering together and I loved the layout being open plan. The location is perfect for walking into Castleton or up the hill to Mam Tor. I would definitely recommend staying here for a large group
We had our Christmas doo here and had around 30 of us! We had a brilliants time with no issues with the property whatsoever! All of the rooms were tidy and comfertable!
Amazing place! Everything about this venue is spot on! Indoor space excellent Outdoor space brilliant Kitchen lovely and very well equipped Bedrooms are great Can 100 recommend this to anyone. We loved our stay!
Joanne
A Great place to stay for large groups. Fully equipped and well maintained. Loved our weekend.
Caroline
This property is brilliant the owners have thought of everything! We had a party of 25 stay to start with and as the week went on numbers dwindled as due to schoolwork constraints not everyone could stay the whole week. We had a range of ages from 2 to 70 and there really was something for everyone, from the outdoor play area and indoor nook with toys for little ones, to the fully functional bar the bar! for the adults and the older kids enjoyed this too pretending to be bar staff was a great game!. You can order caskskegs to be connected up so you have a real bar experience. This place was fab, and in a lovely area too.
We were welcomed and shown around the property by the owner who couldn't of been more helpful. The property itself was actually better the advertised. The poachers arms is huge with everything you could possibly want for you and your guests and also has lots of outdoor space for the wee ones to run around in a safe environment. The bar area provided a ideal focal point for our group whilst the kitchen catered for all our needs .The village of hope is a 2 minutes walk away and the village of castleton is really handy also The pie shop is a must. The poachers arms is a great location for a family get together and we are going to book again without doubt.1010

Kieran
Everyone really enjoyed there stay, it was exactly what we were hoping for, facilities excellent and we all had a cracking time and cant wait to book up again for next year, very likely to become a yearly beano.
The property is amazing and delivers on everything it promises. We had an amazing week in Hope and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The owner is extremely easy to work with and was available by email from the time we booked throughout and quickly responded to our queries. It is a very professional operation. The facilities are immaculate and the kitchen has everything you need for such a large group. Working with Sykes Cottages was not a positive experience and we will not use them again. Contacting them is a nightmare and getting a response during Covid was impossible. The insurers they use were also unhelpful.
Lucille
Fabulous set up everything was spot on couldnt fault a thing we had a great stay ... Fabulous set up everything was spot on couldnt fault a thing we had a great stay and would highly recommend it the owners are lovely
Maureen
Excellent accommodation. A very enjoyable stay. We made use of all the facilities.
Tracey
We all had a brilliant time and the facilities were fantastic
Everything was exactly as we'd hoped. Clean and tidy with excellent facilities, speedy stable wifi and very comfortable. Everything we needed to know was explained clear and simple upon arrival and we were left alone to enjoy a wonderful long relaxing weekend in our very own pub. Local amenities are perfect and we found what ever we wanted within walking distance. Some of our braver guests even went for a swim in a local river with a waterfall, back showered and off to shop returning for a lovely relaxing time hot tub and an evening in the bar. We couldn't have been happier. Highly recommended.
Absolutely superb accommodationentertainment and outdoor space. The kitchen is well equipped to cope with the numbers, and all communication with the owners was superb, friendly and great response time. Would highly, highly recommend!
Brilliant ownersstaff.
Can honestly say this is one of the best holidays weve ever been on! The pub is fantastic and the pictures on the advert really dont do it justice whatsoever! The space is huge, everywhere is meticulously clean and modern and there is enough to keep you entertained without even leaving the car park. Lisa and her family were extremely welcoming and so helpful and even let us stay for an extra day because we loved it so much! Were already working out our availability for our next stay and Ive brought it up in every conversation since getting back. Couldnt recommend it enough thanks so much for a fantastic week and hopefully will be back again soon!
Amazing all round, the owners couldnt have done enough, so friendly and welcoming. The place was so much bigger than it appears on the site, really clean and well decorated. Furnishings are lovely. Will definitely be returning
Bridget
The Poachers Arms was a fantastic venue for our multigeneration family gettogether. There are multiple seating areas, allowing people to to gather in small and large groups, whilst the conservatory provides a great space for everyone to eat together. The children loved the games tables etc, and the outdoor play space. The playing field across the road was a bonus, where games of football and rounders were enjoyed.
Alistair
We had an absolutely brilliant weekend at The Poacher's Arms, celebrating a 50th birthday. The facilities including a working bar, pool table, hot tub, playground, table tennis table, table football were perfect for a large group which was a mix of children and adults. The owners gave us a great tour of the property when we arrived, which meant we were able to fully enjoy our experience. The Poacher's Arms is perfectly located in Hope and from this base we were able to enjoy the many great activities in the area, including hiking and a couple of swims in the open air pool at Hathersage. It is also within walking distance of cafs, pubs and local shops in Hope. We would fully recommend this property for any large group, especially if you are celebrating a special occasion. We will definitely be returning as soon as we can find an excuse to!
The house was very well equipped and full of fun quirks like the working bar and games. Great weekend was had by all!
Rosaleen
What an amazing venue! Hired for a 40th birthday weekend and was just perfect so much space and room for a band and a dance floor in the conservatory. The hot tub was just what was needed for achy legs after spending the night dancing!
