Stonecroft Reviews

We have had the most wonderful stay at Stonecroft. This was for a family celebration for my husband's 70th birthday. Stonecroft had everything we could have asked for and more. It was so well equiped that we were able to cook a Sunday roast dinner for us all with no problem and it was lovely to sit around the dining table to enjoy a meal and play a good old family board game! Lovely comfortable beds,I had trouble getting the family out of them in the morning!! Stonecroft is in an ideal spot in Bakewell with shops and pubs within a short walking distance. It was perfect! Thank you.
It was very welcoming and comfortable. But I personally thought it would be better for 8 people as the lounge was equipped with 3 sofas and it was a squash for all of us.
Kenneth
Excellent property and facilities. So close to the town and market square, only 2 minute walk. Bus stops just around the corner for travelling anywhere in the peak district, and so close to pubs that all do food. Great communication from the owner, would definitely go there again. Ideal for a large group or a big family.
Extremely well equipped the owners had thought of everything.
Francis
We booked Stonecroft because it is ideally placed in the very attractive market town in f Bakewell which itself sits in beautiful Peak district countryside. Despite being in the centre of town, 2 minutes from the market square and a multitude of excellent shops, cafes and pubs it was very quiet, private and there was ample private parking for our three family groups. The cottage was very clean, well equipped and very cosy. The 3 large double bedrooms were particularly impressive and comfortable. The grandchildren had plenty of space in the twin rooms. Our family party ranged from 75 to 2 years old and we wanted for nothing. It was lovely to be greeted with a very generous Welcome Pack containing amongst other things 2 bottles of wine. We would definitely recommend a visit to this part of the country and this house in particular. Our two dogs loved the morning walks to the mill race and riverside. The owner was extremely helpful, accommodating and accessible.
Michael
This property was amazing. It is beautiful inside and it is in a great location. The hosts were very accommodating and they put up some balloons as we were there celebrating a birthday. I cant recommend this cottage enough.
We had a great week at Stonecroft. This was the second time we have stayed here. It gave us chance to meet together for the whole family. The cottage is very welcoming, very clean and cosy. It has lots of equipment and the rooms are very attractive. We love the location right in the centre of Bakewell near shops and restaurants and having parking for all three cars.
Heather
Stonecroft was everything we hoped for it was a perfect girls break. In the centre of Bakewell it was a perfect location for Chatsworth and the surrounding area

It was the perfect choice for our family get together. Plenty of room for 9 plus Mabel the dog. Excellent position in the centre of Bakewell surrounded by wonderful countryside and great walks.
Amazing experience, cannot fault this cottage. Ben, the owner, was very easy to deal with. Thank you for a delightful time Would recommend it to anyone
A lovely cottage right in the heart of Bakewell with the added bonus of parking for 3 cars. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and plenty space for 10 to sit and eat together. Minor niggles with the TV setup. Only dropped a star due to the cost for a short break weekend.
We had a lovely stay in this gorgeous cottage. The location was amazing and the cottage was beautiful.
Howard
Good location in Bakewell with parking space for three cars. Spacious accommodation for ten. House comprehensively equipped. Furniture good. Extra shelvingdrawers needed for clothes. One person complained that the bed was not level on account of the uneven floor. This would be easy to adjust.
Angela
Lovely cottage. Perfectly situated in the middle of Bakewell but on a quiet road
Property was exceptional. Brilliant location and car parking and beautifully presented and equipped. Beds and bedding and furniture wonderful. The only negative was the level of clean. It felt like we were the first visitors in months with a lot of dust and cobwebs. Cleaner is either very short or just does not clean above waist height. Kitchen felt grubby and I had to clean the draining board before using it. Bathrooms were well cleaned. It just needed a deep clean elsewhere. Welcome pack very appreciated
One of the best holiday cottages weve ever rented. So spacious, warm and cosy. There is everything you need. The beds are comfortable and the bed linen crisp and fresh. The location is excellent right in the middle of the village. Lovely walks on your doorstep and loads of choices for meals out. We were a group of 7 and everyone wants to go back again.
Everything was perfect. The welcome pack was amazing and went down a treat. You sometime read that at place is well appointed inly to find its not. But, Stonecroft is totally the opposite, it has everything you would need. Thank you Beck and Ben we loved your place
Everyone in our family party loved the house. Well equipped and organised. Clean and comfortable. Good to have the off road parking, being in the town. Our only suggestion is to include a water filter system, as the tap water had a taste at times perhaps when the tap water was being treated. Weve had a great family holiday. Will certainly recommend the property to friends. Many thanks.
Nicholas
Simply excellent both in location and fittings. One of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in and capable of easily dealing with large families or groups. Cannot recommend more highly. Stonecroft is the best.
Stonecroft is the perfect location for visiting Bakewell. It is a home from home with excellent facilities. The beds were very comfortable with the best pillows! All rooms were spacious, homely and comfortable. The cottage was wellmaintained and very clean. We would highly recommend Stonecroft Cottage and hope to visit again in the future.
Fantastic house. Beautifully styled and finished, everything you could want for a stay. Very comfortable beds, linen, hot water and plenty of space. Close to all amenities but quiet too. Couldn't find any fault with it.
This was our second visit to Stonecroft Cottage and we all thoroughly enjoyed it again. Very much home from home and so close to the town. The stairs are quite steep so thank goodness for the downstairs bedroom, my elder sister struggles now. We had no problems whatsoever, and hopefully will visit again.
An ideal home from home place to stay, everything we could need, spacious, well maintained and a great location. We certainly plan to return!
The property was perfect for a family gathering, very central to all amenities. Although on a road, there was no road noise inside the house. Some of our party in the upstairs bedrooms found it too warm at night. Overall a wonderful place to stay and place to visit.
Luigina
The house was lovely Set in a great location
Fabulous location right in the heart of Bakewell. Very well equipped kitchen, lovely comfy living room with log burner. Beds were all very comfortable too. Parking does fit three cars with a bit of Tetris style jiggery poker! Only negatives, showers are a little under powered and heating was difficult to increase when house was cold in the afternoon and we had already used the wood. No details of where we could purchase more. But overall a great house.
Rachael
This property is beautifully presented, it's in the heart of Bakewell, it is very well equipped, very clean and it has great approachable responsive owners. The beds were all really comfortable, all the bedrooms are a really good size. We had a 14 week old in a crib and toddler in a cot and still had plenty of space in our bedroom. My dad has very restricted mobility and he was able to be with us due to having the bedroom and bathroom downstairs. We will definitely go back to this gem of a property. We have had a great stay.
Catherine
Beautiful cottage, cosy, well maintained and spotlessly clean. Ten people accommodated comfortably and perfect for our family get together. Our hosts were really helpful too.
Stonecroft is in an ideal location, far enough away from most of the hustle and bustle but close enough to be in the middle of everything when you want to be. Lovely house and close to walks too. We had a brilliant stay!
We are a party of 9 woman who meet up twice a year and have done for a number of years. This property gets a top thumbs up, beautifully decorated, well equipped for cooking and entertaining. The beds were all very comfortable with good quality bedding and towels. The cleanliness was outstanding. Thank you Ben and Becks we had a superb weekend away.
Carmel
Our party consisted of 6 adults and 2 dogs We. Brought a stairgate with us to ensure the dogs did not escape upstairs ,we checked this was ok with the owners 1st The cottage was very comfortable and clean The kitchen is well equipped to cook for the numbers in our party A wonderful stay in the heart of Bakewell ,would recommend
Katherine
We had a perfect stay here as a family of 8. The house was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The perfect location in the centre of Bakewell whilst still feeling quiet. Would highly recommend!
Jeremy
Ben and Becks have created a delightful holiday haven in a lovely part of Derbyshire, ideal for a large family stay. It is in central Bakewell within easy access of all sorts of attractions to appeal to all ages, caters for a pet dog too, has easy parking, a lovely secluded patio, and inside everything is exactly as promised in the information online, plus more. We all loved our stay, and will definitely intend to return!
Bakewell proved to be a wonderful place to stay. Lovely walks, plenty of places to eat and drink. Stonecroft is lovely and well equipped. It was lovely to find the kitchen had plenty of utensils, crockery etc There were 5 of us staying, not sure how 10 would work with the seating available in the lounge. We received an email a week before our holiday stating no dogs on the furniture and to exclude them from carpeted areas, a stair gate or similar would help visitors adhere to this request, we used a clothes airer to block the stairs, which was not terribly convenient when going up and down! A minor point as we had a lovely stay.
Stonecroft is an excellently appointed cottage and the equipment, beds etc were splendid. The only gripe is the fact that the very low door heights upstairs were not mentioned on the Sykes website. The first we knew about them was in the Welcome Pack at the cottage. Had this information been available sooner then we would probably not have booked the cottage preventing the 6ft 2in member of our party sustaining several headaches.
Superb location. Near town centre. Particularly good for elderly people who face no steep climbs to get to and fro the centre of activity. Good facilities with excellent furnishings. Secluded outside area also a bonus. First rate in all respects
We love this cottage. It is in a brilliant position in the town and is ideal for a family or large group holiday. We personally love the space and comfort that it affords us as a family with two older teenage children. It is one of the only cottages that we have stayed at that is so well equipped, very much a home from home and the welcome basket etc is much appreciated.
Stonecroft is a beautifully decorated stone cottage in the heart of Bakewell ,surrounded by restaurants and independent shops . The cottage is spacious , well equipped and very comfortable for a large family group of 3 generations . We had a fabulous week and the weather was kind too.
We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful property in the heart of Bakewell. Very well equipped and furnished. Warm and comfortable. One of our party is elderly with limited mobility and found it impossible to manage the stairs to upper floor but was very happy with ground floor bedroom and shower room. Steps down from rear entrance also tricky for her as no handrail. May be helpful to alert future customers to these accessibility issues. Also in upper double bedroom with balcony there is a rug which is a trip hazard with two turned up corners
