We had the most wonderful holiday at Barncroft. There are 8 of us in our family and a dog so finding a property suitable is often quite the challenge. Barncroft more than met our needs. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful property.

Barncroft was incredible. Clean, comfy and superbly kitted out. We had 9 people stay and there was plenty of room. Views were amazing and that window in the dining area! Wow. The Tavern pub conveniently at the bottom of the drive did the best Sunday lunch and had brilliant bar staff. We had a great weekend and would definitely book again

Barncroft is a lovely spacious modern property with great views. We found the bedrooms and lounge area to be very comfortable although our elderly family members found the showers to be slippy and suggested rubber mats for the shower trays . Only little niggles but hooks in the bathrooms and some pictures on the walls would make it feel more homely. We found the dinning area unbearably hot with all the glass and no blinds , only one side of the glass doors open and when open the glass attracts a lot of flys. For dogs the garden is totally secure . Heights of Abraham , Tramway Museum & National Car Journey museum are within 10 mins drive. Highly recommended The Tansey Tavern just down the road , great food. Not an issue with the property but we lost a wedding ring during our stay ,I have no owner details to contact to see if the cleaning team found the ring in the house and Sykes have been no help providing me with owner contact .

As I am 98 years old I have stayed in many, many holiday cottages over the years but Barncroft tops the list in every respect. It really was superb and it well justifies its 5 grading. Every aspect of the property was luxurious comfort, cleanliness, views, equipment, location, etc. Before visiting, I did think it was rather pricy, but having stayed there I can understand top price for top accommodation.

Just returned from our 3 night stay at Barnfield as a party of 10. The feed back from everyone is that this is a very high quality accommodation with an excellent finish to furnishings and fittings, comfortable even for a larger party and very clean. The kitchen is excellent and we cooked extensively the appliances are high quality, the knives sharp. The site is incredible with views for many miles over the Dales from the deck and hot tub. The owners are clearly considerate and relaxed in their approach to guests the process of booking through Symes was effortless. Thank you for a wonderful stay we will be back! Best, Jonathan

We booked this property to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday with all the family and we were not disappointed. The property was very comfortable and spacious for my party 6 adults and 2 toddlers and not forgetting Carrie our Grandpup who loved the space to play. The views were amazing and it was a pity the weather wasn't great. This property is located with lots of things to do to entertain the kids. A trip to Chatsworth House is a must. I would highly reccommend thus property. A mention about the owner who was at hand if there is any issues which he dealt with swiftly. So if you are looking for comfort and style in the Derbyshire Dales then the Barncroft is what you need.

This place has the wow factor. It has everything you need for your stay and more. We went for a girls weekend 8 of us, we never felt on top of each other, we loved the open planned area and also the cost living room. The views were amazing and near to Matlock itself, we would definitely love to come back

We would all just like to thank you for our stay at Barncroft. It was an absolutely beautiful bungalow. The views were stunning and the whole bungalow was equipped to a very high standard. The decor was so modern and fresh. We will definitely be looking to come back in the future. Thanks again!

Where to start? We were all stunned at how beautiful this property was and so well maintained! The beds were so comfortable, the Hot Tub was a big hit,and the table was great for sitting 8 of us down for a meal. The views were absolutely amazing, you can see the Derbyshire Dales as far as the eye can see ! Just a really beautiful place that me and the people that I stayed with would really recommend! The only slight nonpositive thing was the ensuite to the room with the double bed and single bed had a bit of a wonky lock and two of us got stuck in there as the lock jammed! But this was very minor in the grand scale of things I would come again and the owner was very helpful in assisting with an early checkin and coming to welcome us into the property . Thank you so much for a wonderful stay !

Very comfortable and spacious accommodation. The open plan dining room was a lovely place to eat and admire the views. The hot tub was another great feature and due to good weather we spent time outside enjoying this and the seating area. Good location just off the main road but very quiet. Good walks and pubs in the vicinity. The only improvement would be information on recycling protocol. We're not from the area so don't know how it works in Derbyshire and the 3 bins outside all seemed to contain a mix of waste and recycling with no guidance or signs to help.

This was our second time staying at Barncroft and we were once again extremely happy with our stay. This property is so spacious, clean and welcoming. Everything is thoroughly thought of throughout the property. The hosts, Archie & James, very kindly left us a bottle of wine and a thank you card which was hugely appreciated! Id recommend this property to anyone and everyone and we will definitely be back Including our 7 year old nephew who loved to be back in the hot tub and our puppy too! Thank you once again!

We have just returned from a family weekend at Barncroft. It is a beautiful property. Everything was perfect. You have everything you need in a beautiful setting. The hot tub was amazing and easy to get into. Bedrooms were very comfortable. Wished we could have stayed longer.

A spacious bungalow which is perfect for a family get together. The bungalow was very clean and has lots of kitchen equipment. Bed linen and towels provided are of a good quality. The hot tub was perfect, with great views. Great location for walking in the Peak District. Theres a local garden centre and two pubs within walking distance. We had two lovely meals at the Gate Inn, which was decorated for Christmas.

Thank you we had a truly wonderful stay at Barncroft. A fantastic property, wonderful facilities and a superb view. We were celebrating a special birthday and Barncroft made it for us. Would suggest a doormat in the entranceporch area especially useful during the wet weather. If you are thinking of booking, dont hesitate ..I recommend it wholeheartedly .

Barncroft is a gorgeous house with stunning views. Very well equipped and very comfortably furnished. The outside space is excellent, in the summer it must be wonderful for sitting out. There is an excellent pub just a short walk away. Archie was very helpful with a small issue we had and responded promptly. I think better instructions on Sykes website to find Barncroft would be helpful ,, it is a bit tricky! We had to drive slowly to see the sign for Jackhill Farm and its a busy road. The sat navs for 3 cars couldnt identify it , we also used the directions from Sykes but We had a really lovely 3 days and will definitely come again . Its booked pretty solidly though. A very special place indeed .

Very impressive property. The view from the dining area is fantastic overlooking the Derbyshire hills. The fixtures and fittings are top notch, spotlessly clean and well equipped for a large family. We had a fabulous week and would highly recommend.

This property was exactly as advertised, furnished to a high standard & well equipped. A beautiful place to stay.

WOW, that was our initial reaction when walking into Barncroft. Not many places look as good in real life but this is one that does. All of the rooms were beautiful and the views from the dining table and hot tub were spectacular. Everything had been thought of, from instructions how to work things to testing strips and chemicals for the hot tub. There was everything you needed in the kitchen and the wine, milk, tea and coffee sachets and biscuits were a lovely touch. Shame we picked a week with some rain but it did not detract from our time there. It is in a fantastic location to visit the surrounding sights and attractions including Matlock and Matlock Bath. I had a couple of questions and Archie was lovely and quick to reply. I have already shared the details with several friends and we're in no doubt we will return to beautiful Barncroft.

Cottage was beyond expectations the pictures don't quite do it justice on the website! It was lovely and comfortable, clean, spacious and homely.

I cannot find enough words to describe how amazing our stay at Barncroft was. The property was just perfect in every way, very clean, high spec and the views incredible. We went with our family and there was ten of us 6 adults, 4 children and 2 doggies. Every single one of us including the dogs felt very relaxed and at home and there was plenty of space for all our needs. I quite honestly could have stayed in the house all week and not gone out anywhere. My only disappointment was that I wanted to book it for the same week next year and it was already booked up

Excellent property, we have stayed in several Sykes cottages over the years and this property just about tops the lot. The owners have done an excellent job with the property and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had sunny weather every day and were able to take in the brilliant views from the jacuzzi, outside seating and dining room picture window. We would definitely recommend this property to others and will be very keen to return in future

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barncroft. The cottage is very comfortably and fitted out to a very high standard. The only very slight downside was the kitchen equipment, for example we couldn't find a cheese grater. But overall the property is excellent.

Beautiful accommodation, stylish, comfortable with excellent fixtures and fittings . Very clean and well maintained. A lovely setting,close to the village and a short journey to Matlock and Matlock Bath. A dustpan would be a useful addition. A brush is provided. Would definitely return.

One of the cleanest, most perfect UK stays in a while. There was a family of 9 and everyone was more than happy with our stay. The views around the property were spectacular, the rooms were very spacious and every room was incredibly clean and comfortable no matter where you were. There isnt a bad thing to say about the property. Sipping a coffee outside and seeing a deer run across the adjacent fields was spectacular. Barncroft was a wonderful place and would 100 recommend to anyone. The family even suggested around going for Christmas if it wasnt already booked!

Beautiful property, thoughtfully furnished. We visited for a creative retreat and it was the perfect location for reading, thinking, and inspiring discussions. The views are stunning, and enjoying them from the hot tub and the dining table was a daily treat. The bedrooms, sitting room, kitchen and bathrooms are comfortable, clean and modern. Would definitely book again.

A fantastic property perfect to bring 3 generations together to celebrate a 40th birthday. The views, high end appliances and location make Barncroft a property that we would definitely want to return to.

This place was perfect in every way! So spacious, perfect lay out and so clean. We took our dog and he loved it especially laying in front of the fire place! Depending on your dog, you may have to keep them on the lead as theres no fencing or gating, and theres a huge field next to the property, but it wasnt an issue for us personally. The kitchen had everything we needed so were able to cook a full English breakfast & a Sunday roast! The rooms were so spacious and beds were so comfy! The location is perfect, less than a 5 minute walk to The Tansley pub serving the most delicious food and just a short drive into Matlock & Matlock Bath. We were also able to order a takeaway and have it delivered to us from China Rose, again would recommend! We immediately booked to go back next year during our stay, we all loved it that much! 1010!

Could not fault our stay, the lodge was immaculate and absolutely gorgeous! We will definitely be returning in the summer.

We had a wonderful few days at Barncroft. The cottage was amazing, finished to a very high standard super comfortable, well stocked and beautifully decorated a real home from home vibe. Location also perfect. No real negatives at all......below are just some thoughts we had during our stay that might help for future. We were a group of 6 women, so you may get a different perspective from other groups. 1. No scissors surprising how often you need them when there aren't any 2. We weren't sure whether we were expected to recycle? If any 'rules' guests should abide by, maybe mention in the welcome note. 3. We couldn't find the switches for the outside lighting 4. Advise guests where the Neff oven instructions are.....my friends had me to help as I have neff so no issues but others may not be familiar 5. Not sure if you need to have some kind of mat near the door that guests should use to protect the wooden flooring when coming in from the hot tub. We put towels down as we were worried the wood would warp. 6. Maybe consider plastic glasses for use round the hot tub and also for children in general. 7. Finally, and maybe an obvious one, but a note to request shoes off at the front door might be an idea to help protect the carpets. Overall 1010. Thank you to the owners for helping us make our New Year so memorable and hope to book again soon.
