Dove Meadows House Reviews

This was our second visit to Dove Meadows House and yet again we were delighted with our stay. The property is lovely and very well equipped with everything you could want and more for a group of 10 people. Prestay communication was great and very helpful. would highly recommend this property
This was the best house we have ever stayed in, it was bright and clean, nothing was dull or damaged. The cupboards stocked with everything you needed, enough pans and plates etc. We had a welcome hamper, and where encouraged to use the wood burner. The owners were in touch to see if they could do anything to help, or if we needed anything, the cleaners got in touch to see how we wanted the beds made. We couldn't fault anything. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home.
Catherine
Brilliant house for family gathering in the middle of the Peak district. Hosts were great and the welcome hamper was really generous. House is in the perfect location, very short walk into the village and can walk straight out to do longer walks through the beautiful countryside.
Jessica
We had a lovely stay with friends over the new years period. The house was clean, cosy and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Its located centrally in the village of Hartington, which is perfect for exploring the area. Our hosts, Peter and Annie, were incredibly helpful from start to finish and really went above and beyond to make our stay special. We would most definitely return and recommend to anybody thinking of staying. Thank you!
We've stayed in many cottages but this has to be the best. It is very spacious, spotless, immaculate and has the best welcome basket I have ever seen. Very well equipped kitchen, the comfiest beds and wonderful showers. The wood burning fire is perfect for a winter's evening. Located in a lovely quiet village, I would highly recommend Dove Meadows House.
Elisabeth
This was our second stay here. A lovely modern house in a beautiful location. The owners have gone the extra mile to ensure that you have everything you need. The kitchen is well equipped with high quality utensils. There are games both for indoor and outdoor use for children and adults. A garage provides storage for bikes and the drive accommodates 3 cars. The very generous hamper is lovely touch plus lots of basic essentials. This is the best self catering accommodation we have stayed in.
Leanne
We stayed here with 6 adults, 3 children and a baby. The house was absolutely gorgeous, from the well equipped kitchen, huge bedrooms, and modern bathrooms, there was more than enough room for us all. The house was spotless, with all essentials like washing up liquid, toilet roll, dishwasher tablets etc, provided to last the week and then some! The welcome pack was also a lovely touch, full of treats and also bubble wants for the children. Whilst we had no problems, the owners were quick to respond to any questions we had. We loved the house so much we have already booked to stay again next year!
Richard
A fabulous house with 5 good sized bedrooms. As a newly built house, this property has everything you need and is finished to a high standard with good quality fittings. The utility room and garage were useful spaces to leave our outdoor clothes. The location is great with lots of facilities in the village of Hartington and good food places nearby. Plenty of great walking routes from the house including the picturesque Wolfscote Dale. We had a lovely welcome pack of goodies in the house on our arrival, which was much appreciated. We would highly recommend and we would love to come back.
A fantastic property. We had a brilliant few days as a family. The house was welcoming, comfortable and very well appointed. It had everything we needed for a lovely weekend . The grandchildren played with the games and puzzles and the bubble wands in the hamper were greatly appreciated. Catering for 11 was so easy with 2 ovens and an impressive microwave . Could not fault anything . A fabulous house In a wonderful villiage .

The accommodation was perfect for our family, very spacious, comfortable, clean, and extremely well equipped. We enjoyed the views of cattle and sheep from the windows and the few minutes walk into Hartington. We were impressed by the tidiness and organisation of the garage, containing a second fridge and freezer, plus a variety of outdoor games equipment.

Lovely welcome hamper. Owner lovely to deal with as was the cleaning team. Very helpful all round, great property and location. Highly recommend.
Elizabeth
Fantastic property, very well equipped, lovely location within walking distance of the beautiful Hartington village. Have already recommended to family and friends.
This is a 5 star cottage. Just returned home after a lovely week at Dove Meadows. The standard of the accommodation is brilliant. The kitchen is superb, loads of everything, even the knives are sharp, usually a typical cottage failing. Fantastic location, hartington is a great village and you have a lovely outlook as well. Fantastic hosts with a great welcome pack. Would love to come back.
Eleanor
Definitely one of the best holiday lets I've stayed in. Had a couple of queries, both before and during the holiday, and the owners were fast and efficient at answering them via email. The cleaning company were also in touch well before to check what configuration of beds we wanted. Five of us had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The house is located a short distance from the main village centre where there is a cafe, a great little cheese shop, a grocery shop and a tourist gift shop. All are great. It is all very picturesque. The house is close to a footpath so in June there is a regular stream of dog walkers, trekkers and kids either on a school day out or doing their DofE. The views are lovely across the fields. The house itself is very well equipped to a high standard both in the kitchen and throughout. Bathrooms are excellent with plenty of hot water. It was good to have a choice of walk in showers for the less agile in our party and one bath with shower over. All bedrooms had good storage and comfy beds. In the kitchen, the Qooker took a little getting used to and was quickly dubbed The Dragon but its instant boiling water rather than waiting for a kettle is a nice touch. We found all we needed in terms of dishes, crockery, glasses, cutlery, cooking facilities etc. No problem cooking for ourselves. Wifi was good throughout and the TV had everything we wanted after I logged in on my Prime and BBC accounts and remembered to log out at the end of our stay. The welcome pack is a generous touch and there is no shortage of essentials such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, loo rolls etc. All much appreciated. We visited various sights and can recommend Haddon House and Eayam. The pub in the village provided great pub fare one evening. Overall an excellent stay.
What a lovely house Dove Meadows House is, with great views, especially with the lambs gambolling in the field opposite. Possibly the best holiday home my family have enjoyed together. Welcoming, comfortable, well equipped and beautifully presented. The pretty village of Hartington is a great holiday destination with pubs, shops loved the local cheese from the cheese shop and great walks. Would highly recommend especially if you like the kind of place where you dont have to get back in the car unless you want to.
Melissa
We had a fantastic stay. The house was clean, comfortable and very well equipped with a lovely view from the garden overlooking fields and hills. We had excellent communication with the owners prior to arrival and they left a generous welcome hamper for our stay. We loved the location with it only being a couple of minutes walk to the centre of the village and its pubs, cafes and local shops. We have already booked again for next year!
christine
A beautiful and spacious home with lovely views. Spectacular walks from the village and plenty to do in the near vicinity. Cycling the Tissington trail is great fun. Good facilities in the village the farm shop serves a delicious Bakewell tart! The house was immaculate and very well equipped. Our family of 9, mixed ages, enjoyed a wonderful week here and would highly recommend.
Denise
This cottage was perfect for our New Year gathering. The location was excellent, a 2 minute walk to the local pub that served great food and the lovely little village. A short drive to both Bakewell and Buxton. The cottage facilities were spot on , the owners thought of everything, lots of equipment in the kitchen that made cooking very easy. We will definitely return .
In a wonderful location, this was the perfect house for a family celebration, with plenty of space to accommodate all of us comfortably. An exceptionally well equipped kitchen for cooking a special meal for an 80th birthday. Everything was immaculate We also appreciated the very generous welcome basket provided.
Lesley
Our second visit. The best of many holiday rentals over the last 30 years. Not just a superb well equipped house but an excellent location. Car parked up and not used once for a whole week. Owner and cleaning company very communicative and helpful.
Michele
Dear Pete and Annie. Thank you so much for allowing us to share your beautiful home. We had a fantastic time and felt it was better than the pictures on line. We didn't want for anything, the basket of goodies were lovely and the extras. None of us could find fault with anything, comfy beds, kitchen and dining for us all, and lovely cosy lounge to relax in in the evenings. I must add the village was delightful and catered for all our needs. Once again thanks so much.
Amazing property in an beautiful setting. The owners were so helpful and attentive . Would definitely go back.
Dove Meadows House was excellent comfortable, spacious, peaceful and the best equipped house we have ever stayed in! The views from the house are lovely and it is easy to explore the area without having to use the car.
Deborah
Fabulous property in a beautiful setting. Kitchen beautifully equipped and excellent facilities. Lots of indoor and outdoor games provided, as well as a very nice welcome pack, including bubbles for the children, which went down so well. The owners were really helpful and replied straight away to text messages. Definitely recommend this, and we will be staying here again
Fabulous property with lovely views across countryside. It will be a lot better once the cottages at the back have been finished as rather noisy with angle grinder going for big parts of the day , hopefully wont be much longer .
Beautiful house in a fabulous location. Really appreciated the amazing welcome pack and the fact that the house was well stocked with general supplies including loo rolls and logs for the fire.
We had a great stay at Dove Meadows House and the accommodation exceeded all our expectations. Extremely comfortable house, well equiped to the highest standards, great kitchen with all the most modern facilities, good beds and bedding, games for the children and adults and some lovely decorative touches throughout. It is very conveniently located in the lovely village of Hartington with a 3 minute walk to the Market Place and all the shops. Not being on the main road it is also very quiet. The host and hostess were extremely helpful, friendly and generous.
Selena
Where to start? ! What an absolutely gorgeous house, in the most stunning village! The house was SO well equipped and the welcome hamper was the best I have ever had. The owners were so helpful in communicating before and our stay and giving advice on restaurants etc. We will 100 return and are already taking about when! Thank you so much. A perfect stay.
Have just returned from a family weekend away. We were a party of 6 adults and 4 children aged 8,6,6 and 2. Dove Meadows was the perfect venue. A roomy five bedroomed modern house in a quiet position with beautiful views and only a two minute stroll into the centre of Hartington village centre. The house is very comfortable with quality furnishings and flexible accommodation. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of cutlery, crockery etc and lots of extras that make catering for a mixed age family group easier. Younger visitors are not forgotten with plastic plates, cups etc a selection of board games for inside and a good selection of outdoor games such as badminton, quoits, a selection of balls and plastic boules. In addition to all of the above was an outstanding welcome pack which included crisps , ground coffee, instant coffee, ordinary tea bags and earl grey, chocolates and a local map. In the fridge there was also milk, Prosecco and wine. However the crowning glory as far as the children were concerned were the bubbles which provided them all with hours of entertainment. The owners Peter and Annie were very helpful and patient with my endless questions prior to our stay which was much appreciated. The whole family loved our stay at Dove Meadows and we are already discussing a return trip !
Michelle
What a beautiful house in a lovely setting. It was ideal for our extended family celebration, with a great welcome pack too. Great communication from the owners too. Would highly recommend.
Dove Meadows House is a spacious and very comfortable property that is remarkably wellequipped. It suited our large intergenerational group perfectly. It has a number of eco features and is newlybuilt. The location is superb with walks from the doorstep and easy availability of water sports only 20 minutes away. The helpfulness of the owners was greatly appreciated and their welcome pack was both generous and thoughtful.
We had a fantastic weekend staying at Dove Meadows House. The property is really well kept, had all the facilities we could need and was very homely, clean and comfortable. Pete and Annie were so nice and helpful over text and email beforehand and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The weather was good so we particularly enjoyed the selection of garden games in the garage. Overall we couldnt fault it, would definitely stay again and would definitely recommend.
Andrea
We had a fantastic weekend with our family at this fabulous house. Extremely well equipped, comfortable and well maintained. A great outlook and location very close to the centre of Hartington. Its one of the best places weve ever stayed in and couldnt fault it. Would highly recommend.
Superb property, superbly equipped. Owners could not have been more helpful with a couple of little glitches we had. This house is without a doubt the best Sykes property we have ever stayed in, and we've been holidaying with Sykes for 20 years plus.
Robert
A superb modern property in a great situation. Although we didn't meet the owners, they were very helpful in their email contact. An excellent welcome pack
Rachel
A beautiful property in a stunning location. Well positioned for exploring the local area. Good information from the owners prior to our stay and a fabulous welcome pack which was very much appreciated. We would definitely return!
Superb property and the owners had thought of everything. Extremely well equipped and comfortable. Spacious though still felt homely and cosy downstairs. Excellent and very generous welcome pack which we all enjoyed. We were three generations together to celebrate my 65th birthday and we were all equally happy with our surroundings. Great location fabulous walks on the doorstep and great to be able to walk to the local pubs.
Richard
Property was excellent, in a lovely location, well placed to visit many places. Extremely well equiped. Only lacked some smaller drinking glasses e.g. for port or spirits. Would be very happy to go back again .. perhaps in better weather!
We have just returned from our stay at Dove Meadows House with our family . 6 adults, a 2 year old and 6 month old! There was plenty of space , the house was so well equipped and perfectly warm. The welcome pack was a real treat and when we need to help about an issue in the house Pete responded so quickly. A beautiful village to be in and to explore from. Just perfect for us, thank you!
