Queen Ann's Close Reviews

Sahdia
We had a pleasant weekend stay overall. The property was spacious, clean, modern, and well equipped with everything we needed, including plenty of kitchenware. The beds were comfortable, and the kids especially loved the piano. There were a few areas that could be improved. The garden felt quite run down and would benefit from some maintenance, including mowing the lawn and generally making it more attractive. The lack of outdoor lighting also made moving around outside at night feel unsafe. The pillows could be improved with more filling, and a few extra pillows would be appreciated. One disappointment was the interaction with the neighbours, who told our children to keep it down while they were happily playing in the garden at 830pm on a Saturday summer evening. This detracted from what was otherwise a relaxing family break. Despite these issues, the property itself was comfortable, well presented, and a great size for a family stay.
We had a wonderful Christmas in the house. The host had put up a Christmas tree and left us a pack of interesting Christmas snacks. The garden and countryside around is peaceful and beautiful. There are many good walks straight from the property and a fun swing over the river. All the children 6 slept in the attic and had such fun there. A magical place for Christmas for a large family.
The room layout is great for large groups, in our case 3 generations group of ten. The bedrooms & bathrooms were all good, the heating was good and once we overrode the timer, plenty of hot water. There were quite a few issues though, starting with not being given access information by the owner. When this didnt arrive in the promised 48hours I had to contact Sykes. Request for emergency contact number with the owner was refused due to data protection. The access information we were given was incomplete. It took us 40 minutes to work out how to get in. Sykes office was our only contact number. Text by them to the owner was only responded to 90 minutes later. Lots of issues around the house. There was no usable wood for the wood burner which was full of ash, metal work from burnt furniture items and plasticised carton paper. The lamps over the dining room table were the main source of lighting there. They were unusable due to constant flickering, probably because the were nondimmable lamps but the switch was controlled by a dimmer. The oven was in need of cleaning. The garden was completely overgrown much to the disappointment of our seven year old who found he couldnt use the field area to kick his football around. There was no milk as had been promised. There was a burst large beanbag at the bottom of the cellar stairs and the polystyrene filling got everywhere. For all that we had a great stay, the grandchildren loved it & played endless hide and seek. The open downstairs area was great for the adults cooking, chatting & playing games. But the whole site really needs tidying up and the issues above should be addressed as we note that they have been commented on by others before us

Lovely spacious and clean accomodation, with clear instructions and good communication from the owner during our stay.
The house was perfect and had everything we needed! Thank you so much
Richard
We really enjoyed our time at Queen Anns Close. House was very clean and comfortable, very well equipped kitchen and comfy beds. Lots of parking. Great location with a lovely walk across the hills to a lush pub in Chinley. Only 2 minor criticisms, keep more firewood in the cellar and put a blind on the landing window if the light is an issue with neighbour. All in all, excellent, would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
Queen Annes Close is a beautiful property, tastefully decorated and with a big garden. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Although it didnt negatively impact on our stay, it could do with some general maintenance both gates dont easily openclose and there are several holes in the walls, varying in size. Some walls could do with a lick of paint. Overall though, we had a great stay and would happily revisit.

Good property in a good location with a nice garden, however a few issues to mention as follows 1. On arrival, found a left over take away in fridge plus items of food in freezers 2. Wet hand towels and tea towels left around kitchen to dry, fortunately we brought some with us as there were no dry ones available in the house for use 3. Bedding from previous rental left in front porch and not collected until Wednesday day 5 of our stay 4. Several items of clothing left on kitchen bench
Welcome pack was very disappointing, as no fresh milk, just leftovers from previous occupants including a week out of date bottle. I felt the cleaning must have been rushed as things still in dishwasher as well as dusty floors, especially dusty under beds and furniture. No instructions on how to use gas central heating, had to resort to going into basement and turning on manually each time. Sad to find the lights above dining table still hadn't been fixed, dodgy dimmer switch, considering previous reviews, so we were unble to properly see what we were eating and unable to use for boardgames etc.. However, we all enjoyed the lovely comfy beds, showersbaths, which we had lots of hot water for. The view from the rear of the house is wonderful. My 7 grandchildren 212 had a great time, Indoorsoutdoors, using all the wonderful space this house has to offer. This made for a real break for the rest of us.
Lovely property and a great stay. Comfortable, warm and welcoming stylishly decorated and very well furnished. We would heartily recommend to a group or a family and would love to stay again in the future. Our 5 grandsons aged 623 all loved the top room in particular. We all slept very well in good quality beds. The view from the house is lovely and area is quiet and pretty with lots of footpaths. There were a couple of maintenancehousekeeping issues some of which I have since conveyed to the owner who may have been unaware but nothing that we couldnt cope with. I forgot to mention the lights over the dining table dont work properly btw

Everything was exceptional!
WOW! We had an amazing weekend for a family get together. This house is fully equipped with everything you will need, plenty of crockery, cutlery, pot and pans! The rooms are very well appointed, comfy beds and lovely bedding. The surrounding area gave us plenty of opportunities for walking, eating and visiting lovely places. Highly recommended

Great property, very well appointed and equiped. Very comfortable and enjoyable weekend which was enjoyed by all the family.
We had an amazing short break meeting up with all our family. The indoor decor & what was provided was above average. The kitchen was huge & everything you needed was provided from every item of cooking equipment to herbs, kitchen roll, cling film etc. Hand wash & shower gel in all the bathrooms. Sykes said they couldnt provide us with a high chair but there was one in the utility room & portable cot in the room with the 4 poster bed. Ive given a low score re maintenance but this was purely related to the garden, the lawns were mowed but the garden generally lacked the care that has been shown inside the house.
Natalie
We had a wonderful time staying here, the property had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay, you could tell it had been recently renovated to a very high standard. My only 2 comments were that the master bedroom mattress was very soft which was a little too soft for my preference & the steam mop did not work which are 2 very minor things and did not effect the immense enjoyment of our stay. We would highly recommend.
What a stay! Myself and 15 friends stayed here for 2 nights for a reunion. The property is absolutely gorgeous, spacious and very comfortable. We loved having the large openplan kitchen, dining and living room to cook and sit together, especially with the log burner for colder nights. The bedrooms are all beautifully furnished and there were enough bathrooms and ensuites to ensure there wasnt a queue for showers in the morning. We felt that our stay was very reasonably priced given the quality of the house and were considering using it again for future reunions! A couple of small things that would have made our stay even more perfect there wasnt a huge number of loo rolls for 16 people so we ran out before our 2 nights were over. It would have also been useful to have kitchen roll provided in the kitchen. Finally, the large fridge was off when we arrived and had a funny smell to it Im not sure if this was accidental but it made it slightly tricky when our food delivery arrived and we had nowhere to put it. Thanks for such a lovely stay!
Lovely kitchen area and perfect for socialising, beautiful house in general. Big thanks for taking our food shopping due to it being Easter weekend. We didn't realise the bedroom with the 6 children's beds was on the top floor with no carpet on the staircase. Unfortunately due to the ages of our children, we were not able to make use of this facility as were worried about them being on a floor by themselves or falling in the night if they attempted to come down a narrow staircase in the dark. The request to strip all the bedding and bring downstairs was quite time consuming when we were trying to depart the cottage. Otherwise a beautiful area, grounds and cottage.
Edison
The house was perfect location and really comfortable, was big enough for a big family.
Advertised fire in lounge was gone. Minimal toilet paper provided which is a first! And shops closed over Xmas so this was nearly a disaster. Everywhere else we have stayed in holiday cottages provides loo rolls for your stay. Mould on walls in bathroom and bedroom. Outside looking a bit sorry e.g. Collapsed wall between house and garden, overgrown garden not neatly tended like on website pictures. Not what you expect when paying over 4000 for a week, so disappointed . Otherwise the house was a good size and met our needs but given the above issues I feel we did not get good value for money. It was not what I was lead to expect.
Lindsey
Amazing place to stay. Everything you need and space for everyone to enjoy time together. Very comfy beds. Would love to stay again.
The property was in a beautiful location and was exactly as advertised. The house was warm and inviting on arrival and all the rooms were clean and well furnished. The bathrooms particularly were plentiful and beautifully updated. The children in our group loved the spaciousness of the house and all our group enjoyed a relaxing time in the many rooms on offer. The top floor unit proved a real hit! The kitchen was well appointed and much thought had gone into providing all the appliances and crockery which large groups would need so that we werent constantly washing up! We appreciated the thoughtfulness of the hosts in providing many extras from coal and wood to cleaning products and a welcome carton of milk. We enjoyed our stay so much we are considering rebooking for next year too.
A fantastic property. An ideal retreat for our get together. The house is a wonderful location for a larger group to get together. A brilliant kitchen and a lovely fire. We would highly recommend this property!
We had a really lovely long weekend at Queen Annes Close. The house is beautifully decorated and very well equipped, especially the kitchen masses of space and multiple fridges and storage, even 2 dishwashers, great for a large group. We enjoyed the garden and there are some good walks straight from the doorstep. The only negative is about lighting not enough bedside lights every bedside needs a light in my opinion! and a couple of lightbulbs not working.
Michael
Very spacious and accommodated our party of 15 comfortably. Good location for exploring local attractions and for sitting quietly in the garden. The arrangement of the downstairs rooms was very helpful as the kitchen, dining room and sitting room were connected and open to each other which meant that nobody was cut off from the party whilst cooking etc
Lauren
The house is lovely and the location was perfect, the garden and views are incredibly picturesque. There was lots of room and plenty of bathrooms for the 16 beds. The beds are really comfortable too. Overall we had a lovely weekend and would definitely recommend.
Wow what a week we had here with family and friends to celebrate a special birthday! Fabulous house that feels grand yet homely with quality appliances, tastefully decorated and thoughtfully put together. Beautiful views so able to relax and enjoy the property as well as get out and about, a real getaway from it all. Highly recommend this house and a fantastic Greek restaurant we found in ChapelenleFrith called Kouros Cafe, a gem!
Wow, wow, WOW! This place was everything and more! We came as a party of 12 adults 6 couples for a Christmas weekend. My guests were actually tearful at how beautiful and christmasy the house was. There was ample room for all of us and we absolutely loved the open plan of the downstairs as it gave us the space without being disconnected whilst cooking! We decided to do the full blown christmas meal in the very ample kitchen, there was more than enough equipment to cater for such a big banquet maybe one or two more oven trays needed the table was more than spacious enough to get us all around and be able to decorate it up for a christmas setting. All the beds were very comfortable and bedding was good quality too. We didnt get the opportunity to use the spectacular garden but the view of it was picturesque. I would be back here in a flash, would love to experience it in the summer time too, BBQ, wine and games in the garden.

Queen Ann's Close, What a wonderful, beautiful house, stayed there for a week in ... Queen Ann's Close, What a wonderful, beautiful house, stayed there for a week in November, with all our family 16 of us 10 adults 6 children, from 2 to 14 we all loved it didn't want to go home, everything you could possibly want was there, Beautiful gardens, the weather was lovely to us, We would love to go back
A lovely house with a very well equipped kitchen and well decorated living space with ample space for friends and family for a special birthday celebration. The log burner was glorious and downstairs was really well thought out. The house was in a great location too. Regarding the facilities, some of the bedrooms need to brought up to the higher decoration spec of the other rooms and I would suggest the twin is made into a double. I would probably put the four poster bed in the first large bedroom as it has a lovely vista over the garden as well as the ensuite in it making it feel a little more luxurious. Had a number of issues with light bulbs some lamps were missing bulbs, and a number of bulbs were flashing and flickering as possibly not dimmable so this could be checked. It would have been nice if the hot tub was working, or if not I would suggest taking it away otherwise it feels like a futile fixture which guests cant partake in. Outdoors could be made more of it would be good to have an outdoor fire pit and some seating to really use the outside space better which I was expecting. Overall, would highly recommend to others and return again as the space and layout outshines some of the little tweaks required.
Alison
Whilst the accommodation was very good , we specifically wanted a property with a hot tub so the fact that it didnt work for the majority of the stay was extremely disappointing .
The house absolutely catered for 16 people, it was sufficiently large and very comfortably slept that many people. It was immaculately clean, decorated very tastefully, and the kitchen equipment very well catered for 16 people. There were also enough bathrooms to very adequately cope with numbers. Water was hot, and it was a nice touch to provide shower gel and shampoo in the various bathrooms. Loved the garden, the views and of course the hot tub. It's situation is also ideal, close enough into Chapel en le Frith to walk into town for supplies etc but secluded and quiet. Neighbours were also very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyable weekend, thank you.
The house was fine and a comfortable space for 16 people. However it was not clean. Nappy left in toilet bin, kitchen bin dirty with food left in, wet bath mats in washing machine. Not enough towels, mattresses protectors cheap and nasty with not enough pillows. Expecting a better level for the cost of house.
Rebecca
This property was lovely spacious, comfortable and with a large garden suitable for children to play in. It was extremely clean and homely. The housekeeper was very helpful and kept in touch in case we needed anything. Very good facilities for cooking for larger parties. Five minute drive from the A6 and local supermarkets, but still rural. We would definitely stay here again.
Jean-claude
Fantastic property, beautiful place in countryside. Perfectly kitted out for large groups. Very cosy
We had a fantastic stay. The house is super well equipped and the hot tub was an extra bonus with the kids. Communication with owners managers was fast and clear. The only opportunity for improvement we could see was in the garden as it lacked a proper maintenance and comfortable seating to enjoy it to its fullest. But views and space were amazing anyway. Thanks!
Beautiful house. Ideal for a family get together. Kitchen appliances were easy to use and suitable for a large group. Nice to be able to all eat together
Stuart
Perfect house and location, we had 10 adults and 6 kids! It couldnt have been more perfect.
